New awning

so far wully lee sam & i are booked in for a barn raising amish style in a few months time lol i think it ought to nbe at sam’s place for obvious reasons
Aye because I have an overhead crane and forklift maybe? 😉

we’ll have to go over to wild camping with this thread because i cense a gathering coming on😂

Anyway who needs an awning let’s leave that to the professionals and get rat arsed. Went back down to my mates factory with the van this afternoon poor guy has re arranged the whole place so I can get in and fit this thing. They have a full length heavy duty shelving system build like a scaffolding with a walkway 8 meters long at the perfect height they built it specially so that I could fit this. Had a look today it’s three brackets with 2 6mm bolts on each bracket holding it in place think I’ll have a crack at it this weekend. funny as you get older you over think things and get more cautious about things 10 years ago I would have just dived in an had this done by now.

Just what I was saying last week, I spent more time thinking that the actual job took.👍

'Now Charlie said, I've got a funny feeling.
If we removed the ceiling.
With a rope or two, we can pull the blighter through ...'

'Right, said Fred, climbing up the ladder,
With his crowbar, gave a mighty blow ...
Was he in trouble, half a ton of rubble,
Landed on the top of his dome ....
So Charlie and me had another cuppa tea,
And then we went home ...' :D

If you're not careful, Wully will be digging a hole, and it will be round and not square!

We had a problem last year when a rogue gust of wind pushed the awning over the roof 😱. Luckily the bodywork was undamaged but the awning was definitely "unfit for purpose". I have to say that our insurance through the Caravan and Motorhome Club took all the pressure off. One phone call and we were told to go ahead and get a quote, if it was reasonable the work could go ahead. North East Caravans in Ashington were close by and gave us a quote. Long story short, through no fault of NEC, the wrong awning was supplied, but C&MC accepted the increased quote and the job was done. I could have fitted the awning myself, but that would have negated any warranty on the work, so happy to have had it all done under the insurance!
Glad that Wully has got sorted.

I’ve been waiting on a new awning for over a year now. Couldn’t get one anywhere so after a lot of mucking about used a company that came highly recommended by a few people. Problem is they are in Bournemouth England Rose awnings very nice people they ordered it direct from factory and I was to travel to them to have it fitted. But they made a balls up and it got delivered to me now this thing is 6 meters long and weighs a ton. I made contact with them last week and I think my only option is to put this on the roof rack on our long wheel base transit fix it too a five meter section of padded out ladder and take it down there and follow on with the Motorhome. I don’t want to use a courier as guaranteed it will get damaged and I’ve waited long enough for this. Nothings ever easy in my world.
Wully, this song was written for you, just change the words to "Awning Has Broken" 😁

Terry, I preferred the Cover version by Hinge & Bracket, because with those three, you only need the power tools to fix said awning ... :D
