Leaving cost out of the equation as I’m more interested in the miles and the busyness of the roads. And we tow a trailer for our recumbent trikes and always use motorways including the toll roads.
My drive to Portsmouth is 432 miles with 2 overnight stops. From Preston on, apart from the M6 toll I don’t enjoy it.
From there we have taken BF direct to Spain, a 2 night cruise which is pretty boring, but gets us to our first site on the same day as docking. 122 miles on good quietish roads. Total mlles from home 554.
We have also taken the ferry to St Malo with 2 overnight stops n France before our first site in Spain. 570 miles on good not too busy roads in the main apart from round Bordeaux. Total from home 1002.
Home to Rosyth is 60 miles, Dunkirk to first site in Spain 786 miles. Total from home 846. But the road from Dunkirk until we merge with the route from St Malo.? (I wouldn’t take the route through Paris)
