Since we decided to move to France, we considered re registering our 21 year old Swift with French plates, but it appears to be fraught with difficulties, so, we decided to sell it and buy another.
We decided to take the van back to the U.K, part ex it against a new one and do the registration in a few months time, till we started looking at vans in France.
Second hand vans are so expensive and have much higher mileages than U.K. vans, we bit the bullet and bought a new one. We sold the old one in France in a couple of days, much to our surprise, and have been vanless for a couple of weeks, but today’s the day. We pick the new van up at 2 pm today, and here’s the best bit, it was over €10,000 cheaper here than the equivalent in the U.K., albeit, it is a special edition, not sold outside mainland Europe.
So, how excited do you think we are?

Very. Excited for you.
We did similar and haven’t regretted it except for niggle faults that have needed to be rectified, without any Agro from dealer but bit of a nuisance.
Enjoy.
Hope weather is kinder to you than here in SW ?? today/tomorrow!!!??

Happy for you now away and enjoy yourselfs with all that money you saved brilliant.?
Setting off on Saturday night up to Calais then through the tunnel and up to Suffolk, Midlands, down to South Wales then back to France via Folkestone. Might have just run it in by the time we get home!

Hi you mentioned it was a special edition, not sold outside mainland Europe is this a Swift and what layout is this
you have had this van a few hours now has she been named
Congratulation to you both - Happy driving and camping for years ahead

Hi, no not another Swift, although we did look at Bessacarrs in the UK, a Burstner Harmony Line TD 736
It has an island bed with garage below, a separate shower and bathroom which can be closed off from the rest of the van to form an en suite, kitchen then a dining area with 2 side facing sofas and a central table. The front seats swivel round to face the table. The sofas convert to 2 travel seats and an electric drop down bed which lowers onto the dining are.
I think they are being sold in the UK next year.
Pic of the van is on my avatar.
First trip out and we drove 300 miles up to the Somme. Went like a dream....

No names though, it’s just “ the van”

Sounds perfect. Very exciting. And all under warranty should anything go wrong, which it won’t. What modifications did you have? Batteries, solar etc.

We had an awning, solar panel, bike rack, auto sat dish and tv fitted. Forgot about another battery but will fit that at a later date. We also had the weight up plated to 3850 kg to give us 750kg payload.

Happy and safe travels
