Having considered all the views expressed here and on WC we have decided not to go out. I’m certain that to have done so wouldn’t have posed any danger to us or anyone else, but can see that some may resent us being out in a motorhome at this time. I certainly feel that anyone who does take a trip out should not feel bad about doing so, after all the clubs are still pushing their sites as being open. Maybe we’ll have a night in it in the garden!

We take away raw, frozen meat as well as frozen pre-cooked meals such as curries, spag-boll & chillie and my wife is an utterly brilliant cook who can prepare a superb stir-fry in next to no time out of the ingredients we take away with us.
And even at home we currently have almost 6 months supply of frozen meats in our freezers we obtain fresh from a local industrial trade source.
And as for our alcoholic pleasures, we buy most of them on-line from the likes of Laithwaites and other similar companies.

This statement makes me laugh how things change to suit situations
when life is normal and we are banging on about not being welcome in parts of the country and then we bang on about the money we put into the areas we visit and it being their loss and short sighted councils the above statement seems tried and tested over the years so not a lot going into the local economies that are visited by this member.
Please don’t take it personally but it is just the twisted way humans like to be seen doing the right thing in any situation.

I rang two UK sites this week and deferred both bookings. They both were fine, and generously didn't penalise me a penny for the changes.

Interestingly, I received two opposing views from each of them.

The first said they'd had 47 cancellations over only two days, and were very worried about their future. The other said that they had more bookings than ever before because people had cancelled their trips to Europe and were booking UK instead.

Strange times.

Reported today by the BBC from the PM's daily UK coronavirus briefing:

Quote:

England's deputy chief medical officer, Dr Jenny Harries, told reporters at the briefing that the government was not advising people against going outside.

"We are saying, if you are going to go outside, go in a way that reduces your social contact," she said.

Unquote.

Bill I felt the same way had a real hard week at work weather being crap at the start of the week. Now the sun has finally came out I started getting the itch im like you I know a few we places in the wilderness. But being out working all week driving in and around Glasgow I’ve seen the traffic gradually get less and by the end of the week I even felt guilty driving around to get to work and back. Get the blinds pulled heating on feet up do a bit of driveway camping. Me and the wee one have had a couple of great adventures driveway camping this winter. I even let her drive while I have a beer.

Wully, I really respect your view on this. (Seriously)
Looking forward to watching Glen Campbell soon. 😀

Our decision is made!!

Contrary to my former posts, the decision is now made that my beloved 'Millie' is being put on SORN as of the end of March until further notice!!

With the exception of walking the dogs (when we don't meet anyone), my most beloved and I are locking ourselves away, the main reason being that I have known heart and lung conditions which wouldn't mix at all well with Covid 19.

So for me, I will be crunching out the hours daily on my turbo trainer, getting all of my picture framing kit out and doing all the frames that I have been putting off until a rainy day, getting my easel, paints and brushes out and of course keeping in contact with the outside World via the phone, face book and of course invaluable sites like this one.

As my van is my only form of transport I shall be getting out, if only for fresh air and excercise. Plenty of open spaces and forests down here.

Just read something. A guy who lives in the village of Glencoe has posted about a few vans parking up near the ski centre people going hill walking and climbing from these vans he’s absolutely raging and telling then to leave and go home. Don’t know if he’s right or wrong but his point was what if one of these climbers walkers gets hurt and need rescuing. it’s a long way to a hospital and would take up precious resources.

It would be interesting to know how many people have driven up to the Lakes in their cars to go walking this weekend .............

As far as I am concerned, if any of them had any kind of accident then it is tough luck, tough monkies, they have placed themselves at risk so why oh why should any hard stretched organisation such as the NHS or indeed the volunteer mountain rescue risk other lives by going to their assistance?

TO LET: Clapham North Deep Level Shelter

1584810733284.png

One and a half acres of storage space in one on London's deepest tunnels below Clapham North station. You'll need to fork out £85,000 a year to secure the former air raid shelter which lies deeper than the underground line.

Anyone want to go halves on this?

I simply can’t see how someone with a van containing it’s own food and fuel whose occupants avoid contact with others can have any adverse effect. I agree that it’s a national crisis but as far as the medical stresses go the services are very marginally less likely to be called on as the van dweller is in effectively their own ambulance in the unlikely event of needing to get to hospital.
Except if you were involved in a R.T.A. Then who knows what service you would require.

Agreed, but a very remote possibility, certainly never happened in over 60 years for me and statistically extremely unlikely,. Probably more chance of needing services in a diy injury at home, or murdering a relative!
My point is that you don’t have to be the perpetrator , there are plenty of poor drivers about to create the problem, anyway I see that you have acquiesced and will be staying “Chez vous”👍
