on board charging advice wanted

Lol I should have read last post first, googled the model number of the charger and it came up lithium ion charger.

You need to investigate consequences of leaving partially charged after use and if it’s okay to fast charge

Bloody thing is faulty anyway,

Actually not faulty at all, but no way to use it in the van.

It has no means of keeping it folded, it is well named as instant, you only have to touch it and it unfolds, I could put a strap around it but it would keep falling over so it is going back sadly.

So on we go, I did have a play around with it in the house for quite a while and I think a folding scooter is probably my best option I put an obstacle on the floor to drive over and it struggled to go over it in a straight line and veered off, as the joystick was too sensitive when it joggled me, not a good idea on any sort of rough ground I'd expect.

I have contacted them and they are happy for me to put it back in the box and they will arrange collection.

Have a look at the Efoldi power chair I have an Efoldi mobility scooter and it’s great I charge it in the van not sure what the chair ids like but worth a look.

Thanks, Annie, having had a chair and a scooter I think I prefer the scooters, much more stable and controllable, I don't need the support that a chair gives, the problem with scooters is the wheel size they all seem to have tiny solid wheels and are very low to the ground, if the van had a garage it'd help and I could go a bit bigger but it has to be light and it has to fold and get through the van door

Efoldi all have tubed tyres and my scooter is flight friendly folds to the size of a large suitcase my Efoldi sits on the passenger seat and at 17kg I can lift it in and out on my own and it does 4 or 8 mph.

I looked at the scooter and it is too expensive for me Annie, about three times what I want to pay and double what I'll probably have to pay.

Yes, the scooter I had was off FB marketplace, but it had issues and if you need to buy another battery they can be close to £300 each.

I'm just searching now, this is the first one to come close but maybe more than I want to spend, but they all make you look like John Wayne on a bloody Shetland pony and still quite heavy to lift into a boot or a van.

WHAT!!! £918 for a walker????

Got one of those in the shed. Mother bought it when she was feeling flush. Nice big wheels. Shame to throw it in the skip when she died so kept it.

What you really need is a Recumbent Trike. I have one. Folds up and you can convert them to battery operated using one of the Chinese kits. Gives you a bit of excersise after all those pints.

You could always build something. You just need a skeleton frame https://www.facebook.com/reel/778915720453360/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v

I am disabled so none of that would do for me.

I have a manual handcycle I got to take round on the van. I did for a while but not these days. While it worked fine it is just a bit too heavy/unwieldy to get on and off the bike rack on my own. That’s why I now carry an escooter

I'm looking at getting a unused Solax Scooter similar to the last one with a dead battery so I may be going on a trip to get it if they accept my very low bid.

When people say "Lithium" , what they are really saying without realising is "Lithium Ion". All Lithium batteries are Lithium Ion, or Li-ion.
The various other Lithium batteries, such as LiFePO4, etc, are battery types within the Li-ion family (a bit like if you said you had a "Lead Acid" battery, but that could be an AGM, a GEL, Lead-Carbon, Lead-Calcium, etc)
I happened to have just looked up some on regarding Li-ion batteries in fact, which is why it is still in my head :) (info read here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-ion_battery) and specifically LiPo (Lithium Polymer) batteries, talking of which I have just removed an extremely swollen one from my Laptop today.

Cheers David, I did sort of think that, but I'm not a guesser if I can avoid it.

I bought a cheapo scooter locally just to put me on until I find a good one to keep, yesterday I put it on charge and it was showing green so I turned it off at the socket, but this morning I noticed it was showing red on the charger, why is this, does the charge leak out if connected to the mains, another thing is to get a battery up to 100% it seems it needs to be discharged and recharged several times but with only one battery you can't just travel around on the scooter until it dies so is there a way to do it more easily?

There have been developments since the last post.

A scooter popped up fairly close to us on FB marketplace at really silly money, I already had a cheaaky snipe bid on a good one on eBay but didn't expect to get it.

So I nipped over and bought the FB one, just a cheap base model Solax, the idea being I had one for the Ireland trip and sell it if I found a better one, Sunday morning I get an Email I'd got the other eBay scooter, a much better Solax Smarti (where do they get these puerile names), so I now have two scooters, the cheap one is already on eBay so hopefully it sells quickly as one is now boracic lint.

I'm after a spare battery now so I can have one ready charged, as I have two remote charging docks as each scooter came with one, so I have one of those for sale too.
