Good idea! He he the avatar springy thingy was a bit of an eyeful. The new one is a partial smiley face drawn in the snow on the car windscreen! Couldn't get the full size pic in there. It'll do for now-quite seasonal-will find something more xmassy inabit. Good guess tho' you got the partial bit spot on!

Tom.

This is the full version. Keep smilin'

Thanks, teejay. I like the new one a lot. The partial image approach is very effective for me. I had one or two other avatars in mind but was also limited by the website size constraints. When Phil has time he may revisit this. In the meantime I'll stay with the 'you either like him or............' version. Again, I'm happy with the partial image.

You surprise me, Asterix. Apparently pineapple skin is not poisonous though has been known to cause discomfort on the way out.

I watched a Philipino woman prepare one years ago,she cut the skin in a spiral from top to bottom and told me it was very important to remove the black bits under the skin as it will make you sick,so maybe not the skin itself but the...pith?

Nah. She was pithed.

Please forgive me.

Are you taking the pith! This could be life saving information if you're ever stranded on a Pacific island without a Philipino maid.

That made me grin, Asterix. Have you seen the 'Desert Island' thread? You might want to offer your thought there.

Does a chocolate fire guard count

It most certainly would. As would a teaspoon made of salt.
Do we have either? We desperately need Charlie to advise.

Oh plenty plenty! My OH is a kitchen, useless gadget compulsive buyer and hoarder. The more outlandish the better. We have left handed tea pots and cups! Weird looking tea diffusers hanging from small chains. Wooden made toast grips that burn when you attempt to prise hot toast stuck in the useless expensive electric toaster. Non stick oven mats that get baked on oven cooked stuff stuck to them! An oyster knife that has only ever been used as a primitive screwdriver! Hundreds of chopsticks but we don't even live in China! (Good for unblocking sinks though lol) The list is almost endless but I would be here all day attempting to recall them all. But the worst one I can think of at the moment is a pair of silicone oven mitts in the shape of crocodile heads! Bloody laughable they are. Not only do they look hideous, they burn the effin fingers don't you know if you pick something hot up!!! How useless are they?

do you have a left handed kettle it can be fun going to currys and asking about a left handed kettle did do it one day in john lewis and kep them at it for about half hour as they kep offering me right handed lettles or a ambidextroous one or a dual onesbut i daid ijust wnated a left handed one and as they couldnt help me i wasnt going to help them and said i amgoing to currys and left

No, haven't got a left handed kettle! lol. But yes, when you think about it, some kettles are handed and usually have the view/fill port on show to the user when the handle is on the right as you look at it!! So yes, there is such a thing as a right handed kettle for a start. Our current one has no view/fill port- it has fully detachable lid and sits on a swivel base-so its ambidextrous! I do have a few left handed kitchen knives though and they are really useful for left handers. If you have ever tried to cut a slice of bread from a loaf with your left hand and you find that the slice is all to cock-then you need a left handed bread knife. A right handed one has the serrations cut into the blade on its left hand edge whereas a left handed ones is on the right. The same goes for chef knives-some are sharpened on both edges of the cutting blade and a right handed one is sharpened only on the left only and vice versa for a lefty. So there are a lot of useful gadgets as well as useless ones.
Not many people know about left and right handed knives though-they just use what they've got usually.

I have heard of handed knives, but I've never tried one. I rather suspect it would just be a means of more effectively removing my fingers.

How about a £1,000 'smart' phone. That seems pretty pointless to me.

Did they cheer you on the way out, Barrie?

For stamina, that is. Obviously not because they wanted to encourage you out.

One of my daughters is left handed. I'm going to check this out with her. Thanks for raising it, teejay.
