Ridge Monkey recipes

Love my Ridge monkey but only turned out great omelettes and toastys on hob and cadac. Think it's time to experiment a lot more šŸ˜

Tonight. PASTA bake.
1) any pasta Fusille. Soaked in boiled water for say 30 mins. Then drained.
2) I prefer to cook the meat (minced pork) and diced veg in a frying pan..
Then In the monkey
3) layer of pasta, then the meat & veg, pour on white sauce.
4) More pasta and sauce and cheese.
Briefly on medium gas than on lowest setting.
No need to turn over.
Check the pasta is cooked after 15 mins and cook more as needed.
I found that half a jar of sauce (480gm) was plenty

Today
Roast lamb (neck fillet) with mushroom thinly sliced sweetheart cabbage and onion. Then roast potatoes (parboiled yesterday)...
Nice gravy.
Tomorrow ... Gordon Ramsey "Savoy grill breakfast"...mayby Ā£2 šŸ¤£

Chicken and mushroom pie !
Adapting a Jamie Oliver recipe.
Cut the chicken into smallish pieces and fry in a normal frying pan.
Add chopped mushrooms and spring onions and cook for 5 mins.
The usual seasonings and some flour.
We had some left over "lasagne white sauce so added that and cooked until thoroughly mixed and not sloppy.
Finally using all of a ready puff pastry mix form the pie .
Cook initially on very low but turn up and move the monkey around to make sure the corners and edges are cooked. Turning over as well.
Enough for 3 or 4 with vegetables cooked seperately.
We are staying on a friends driveway.
They have now ordered a monkey !

Ps We find pies better than lasagne as leakage is so much less.
If we want pasta we do a pasta bake with fusili partially pre-cooked. This can be done by putting it in a jug, adding boiling water, waiting 5 to 10 mins and then draining. Sauce as above (or as suits) then using the monkey for 10 to 15 mins.
Pasta in the monkey followed by the meat sauce.
A vegetarian sauce also works well.
Curry or chilli as variations.
