Scotland being ruined

The government could stop all this easily, just ban all movements of Motorhomes, £1000 fine for each time stopped, without good reason, not sure how to deal with the tiny Bongos etc as they are sometimes family transport as well.

The above is not intended to pee anyone off, we too would like to get away, but have been playing it safe up til now, but we too need to get away from home for a few days so are readying the van for a weekend trip to the dales, short trips like this do not overtax the cassette of course.

Sorry, but your post seems contrary.

In the first sentence you say that all motorhome movement should be banned under pain of a £1000 fine.

Then, you go on to say that you are planning to get away for for a few days on a wee break!

As it happens our 6m campervan is our only mode of transport. At £1000 a shot going to the shops could get expensive!

Well jealous, we love the dales and are peeved off we couldn't go this year, enjoy your stay.

Just spent a week in Aberdeenshire no mess no problems no animosity. Currently near ‘that’ castle at Dornie with four others, again no mess no problems no animosity.

We stopped briefly this morning in the deluge of rain at Eas-Nan-Arm Bridge and the place was a wash in fire pits and toilet paper there was nowhere for anyone to park up for the night though so the culprits could be anyone from any camping background but more likely the majority of toileters are simply passing humans of all varieties.

The simple truth is there’s far too many people on the planet and there will never be a downward trend voluntarily.

That will be Eilean Donan Castle then and probably parked up at Dornie village hall ?

I know there are other sites for this but I just wish every member on all the Campervan, camping and motor home sites would email their local mp and demand that they install aires in all major towns and if space is available in villages , This will bring more people in to spend more of their lovely dosh in local village stores and pubs , I certainly don’t condone the leaving or dumping of rubbish or excrement as I’ve camped and motorhomed since I was about 14 and left many places cleaner than I found it !

Would that mean that motorhomers would stop parking illegally in small villages. If so excellent

Nope we were up at Mam Ratagan last night, the rain drops were the size of boulders judging by the noise they made in the early hours!

Join CAMpRA we’re working on it. Getting some positive vibes from some councils and MPs, but join us and our 11000 or so members and help keep up the pressure. If you are a compulsive cleaner upper then try wildandwomblingmotorhomers group on Facebook.

Scuse my ignorance but what do you mean by motorhome parking illegally in small villages ?
Do you mean no tax no mot or insurance ?
A tongue in cheek question around a local situation. The local village has a car park that will accommodate about 10 motorhomes and allows overnighting, has facilities but has a small charge. (virtually an aire) Once saw two campers there overnight.
Close by is an area clearly and legally marked access restricted with parking for permit holders only. Often up to 30 campers parked up for days.
When questioned the occupants respond along the lines of ‘we don’t want to pay, if the council cares they should send wardens out.‘ and other less instructive commments.

Right, I get you now, just didn't see where you were coming from.

If the situation is just as you describe then there are laws/regulations in place and the police should be involved.

Just out of interest, is this a regular occurrence (if so, the above applies even more) or something driven out of the current pandemic situation?

a long term issue. The police and authority do get involved but I guess it comes down to costs / resources. They have now decided to ‘get tough’
Just for your amusement: it is a small village and since the locals know I have a motorhome they seem to think I am personally responsible for all Motorhome issues. Somehow if the they tell me it will alright.
Remember that TV character ‘the only gay in the village‘.

NOT realised it yet sir? You are tarred with the same stick as is the rest of us, only thing we can do is to not behave in the manner the naughty ones do.
