I am considering buying a Snipe version 3 satellite dish, I have read various comments ref version 2, some not so good ref gearing, some brilliant.
.
As we do not have a large amount of room on our roof I have whittled it down to the Snipe v3 or the Maxview Vuqube. Both have plus and minus reviews.
.
I am drawn to the Snipe with its latest engineering on the motor gearing revision,
.
However, opinions from those whom use the above would greatly be appreciated, Thank you.

Have you thought about getting your tv through the internet, you wouldn’t need a sat dish then.

The big questions are: where do you intend to use it; what TV channels do you wish to watch? For example, if you wish to watch UK channels in southern Europe, equivalent dish size can be critical due to restrictions on signal footprint.

Were not likely to travel far from the UK if at all, hence the choice of the 2 units as in listing, Thanks for your input.

I have the snipe v3 and it's brill in the UK, we dont want to go to europe so it brill for us, we also have the fire stick for catchup ect
How long have you had the unit??? Have you had any of the problems associated with the previous version the V2, ie, gears crunching , dish not aligning ect ect.

As yet we only potter around at home (UK) so not bothered about a larger dish for southern Europe

We had a Snipe 2 on our previous van, for 2 years. We had no problems with gear crunching or any mishaps apart from once or twice failing to find a satellite on its first attempt, but this was in southern France. We have managed to get good reception on the Spanish border at a few spots but I think the dish is on its limits south of Toulouse.
What we did notice down there was that even though we locked on the satellite, our Humax receiver said there was no signal, though a different ( and much cheaper receiver) got a great signal all the time.

Used a Snipe 2 on my previous pvc for 2 years in the uk.
Worked faultlessly apart from occasionally not finding the satellite probably due to location and poor line of sight to satellite. Never had any issues with gear crunching / failure which I believe was resolved in the series 2 and 3 models.

For UK use, satellite versus mobile Internet is very much a question of where you will go. I would imagine that in some remote hilly/mountainous areas in particular, mobile Internet may not be available (and in some cases line of sight to satellite may be an issue, but perhaps less so).

I had the snipe on two of my previous vans and never had a problem we even had it working in France only stoped when we got passed Paris. I never had a problem with it. I now have the maxiview dome view cube roof mounted works great in fact I think slightly better than the snipe as it’s less prone to wind and weather problems and never let me down even worked well under or near trees.

first one I had just over a year second one about the same I never screwed the plates down I just fixed it with sicoflex and it was fine. I’m now using a fire stick as well as the satellite dome. Never had any ingress of water. If you want my honest opinion I think the dome is better I’ve had it just over 4 years now never had a problem with it and I’m amazed sometimes when it works in adverse weather I see these people with the big dishes just spinning or going down and ours is still working.

I have the Snipe v2 and it works okay but I never use it now 😁 I use a firestick to watch TV and find easier as long as you have internet ;)
I use a Three unlimited data sim in my router (£16.00/month) and find it works great. (y)
