Snowbirds 2025

First .... apologies for the prolix!!
Since our last post when we were in Nazaré we have been travelling up the Western coast of Portugal, the majority of the time in good sunshine. It looks like we have been a bit luckier than most.🤷🏼‍♀️. The majority of our stops are coastal. We've always been drawn to the coast and love walking on the beach, but especially now we have a water/beach bum pup!!

We've included a few pics of each destination. The parkups have all been good and have either been free or very cheap. Incredibly, the dump and fill services have also often been free or very cheap!! If anyone would like any details/our opinions, please ask. We've thoroughly enjoyed each area of Portugal we have visited.
1. Figueira da Foz - Beachside motorhome stop.
2. Costa Nova (village of stripes).
3. Aveiro (The Venice of Portugal). Free motorhome spot.
4. Esposende - lovely city in the Braga district of Portugal. Free motorhome spot (big enough for 80 vans) behind the bus station and GNR police station (so, very safe) 🤣.

Today we drove across the border into Spain (blinked, and we missed it 😱) and are now at a free motorhome spot in the centre of Pontyverde. We used this spot last winter and can't enthuse enough - so close to everything (no beach but a lovely river!!). The views walking from the parkup around the river and across the bridges are just stunning at night.

We did have rain on our drive and arrival at Pontyverde but the sun soon came out again for a lovely warm afternoon stroll.
We'll be here for a good few days 🌞. Whereto next !!? 🤔

💚 Hope the weather is being kinder to everyone now, and you are enjoying your winter playaway 💚

thankfully not raining here but the tidal gaudina is cancelled out there is so much water in the dams ( after 5 years of drought) they’re releasing several, million litres and the gardens that are normally 3-4 ft above water level are flooded IMG_2133.jpegIMG_2132.jpeg

Missed pics of our current spot at Pontyverde in Spain (arrived today)... we love it .....

Try and see the Chocolate Museum at nearby Astorga.
Free sample and nice Spanish town.

Arrived at Sanlucar Portugal and it feels good to get out of the relentless high winds that we have had for the past few days, we had some showers earlier but at last the sun has started to show itself, fingers crossed the change has arrived as it is now showing fine weather and sunshine for the next few days ☀️, Patnlore are still with us and we will go and sample the food in the town tomorrow 🍻

It's still horizontal rain here - fingers crossed for tomorrow

lee & i arrived at sao bras today sunny and sat out but a little breezy made us realise how much wind we’d missed sitting at pomarao for the last week

It's a strange climate, up here.
The wind can change direction all round the compass.
We've had the first dry forecast in weeks, so the place is festooned with laundry hanging outside.

Hope to see you soon.

We should be on the shuttle on Monday to EU land, postponed to early May due to my eye op healing, and eye test booked April 5th. Seeing the weather conditions currently over there, I'm far from bothered about this Monday now a no no. Weather here is brilliant, shorts and T today, more tomorrow!!

It’s not a laughing matter Jeffrey, not even the end of March and I’m now having to cool my beer 🍻 in the fridge, instead of storing in my freezing cold mancave. 😳

Arrived in Calpe yesterday, every camper park full to bursting. Some nice coastline but can’t abide what’s been done to it, finally decided we’d seen as many apartment and hotel blocks as we can stomach. Spent a peaceful night in a carpark in Polop instead, scrubbing the coast from our agenda. Nice drive to Guadalest and through the mountains today…it’s inland from now on!

Rob and I were in Guadalest a week ago . Having spent a few days with friends in Callosa de En Sarria.
If you’re still in the area and fancy a brilliant curry, I highly recommend the Gurkha restaurant in Altea😋
