We stayed at Palencia in mid-March on the free Aire across the Old Bridge that is also the Free Car Park. Weather was lousy, but the town was very pleasant. After Palencia, it was on to Lierganes for the last couple of days before the very short hop up the road to Santander. Took the train from Lierganes to Santander and spent a pleasant afternoon wandering around the City. Happy days ...

if not for the vet and the dash home we prefer the town of ampudia about 10km from palencia free aire between the bullring & the castle which was used as el cod’s family home in the film , the town itself looks as though clint eastwood is going to come round the next corner lilIMG_1662.jpegIMG_2231.jpegIMG_2225.jpeg

We've met up with one if our older members.
As you can see Paul is keeping up the well known tradition of balanced drinking.
He sends his regards to all that know him.20250412_204540.jpg

Thanks for a lovely visit, Linda and Lee.
That red wine that you asked me to look after is just a little young.
I Reckon that with regular sampling, it will be at it's best about a week before you return, next year.

Happy Easter all 🐣. Hope everyone has enjoyed / maybe still is enjoying their Europe "playaway."

We haven't posted since our arrival in Ireland from Bilbao on 28 March, so we thought we'd do a quick update:
We have been so lucky with the weather. Yesterday, 18 April was the first day of rain and no sun.
One week was particularly beautiful, and we were able to swim in the Wild Atlantic .... 😜🏊‍♀️ actually pretty calm on that day 🤣.
We initially travelled north/west to Sligo to start our "Wild Atlantic Way" road trip from north to south.
We've driven the Dingle Peninsular, Conor Pass and Ring of Kerry. Yesterday, we drove the Molls Gap. Paul has loved all the driving, even the humpy bumpy pothole bits and the darn right ridiculous cambers!! Fijit, not quite so much ... although there is no damage 😜.

Smuj and we have loved all the beaches and frolicking 🤣

We could enthuse all day about the rugged mountains, beautiful emerald scenery/views, pretty quirky villages, wonderful friendly people, cheap or free park-ups and services, and in this instance, smashing weather 😀, but it needs to be seen 🇮🇪.

We ferry back on the 30th and straight on to Hereford. See you there?

Susan and Paul xx

Then home ..... phew!!!

First picture.
Be nice when it’s finished
'The builders definitely said that it would be finished and plastered before our main holidays ... But then he said he hadn't realised it was a Listed Building and that he'd have to wait for the architect to get Planning Consent ...' :ROFLMAO:

'6 weeks we could have lived with; but, 2,000 years? Really? C'mon ... Next thing you know he tells me the price has gone up now that he has to start paying his labourers ...'
