SOCKS, do yours last for next to no time?

If I'm deserving of such a punishment then maybe it's right for us to both don masks and be done with it....

Um, er, whilst I'd like to make positive comments about your arse, I'm told it's not appropriate!
Tempting Steve but I'm far too busy at the moment on Tinder, looking for a matching bubble :ROFLMAO:

I buy mine from Aldi, used to buy them from M&S but they have gone downhill, Aldi quality is good but my wife puts a stop to it as my sock drawer is full, I have one drawer in a 6 drawer dressing table, knickers rule for the rest.

All mine are hand knitted have over the years had a few shop socks given me but usually pass them on following Xmas Ideal knitting for a woman while in van easy to pick up an put down light to carry and a sense of pleasure when you see your man wearing them :giggle:
Good to hear of another sock knitter! it is my favourite kind of knitting, which is just as well because I knit socks for at least six other people as well as for me. I also darn them, when they eventually get holes, but that doesn’t happen often.

Do the same identical socks and 5 pairs of leather soled black shoes. Hole in one bin it and keep the other. More successful with socks as tried to go to work with 2 left shoes on the other day. Didn't feel like I had 2 left socks on though.

Living up to your name eh? :giggle:

Modern socks = generally poor quality.

I've noticed over the last 10 years or so even the 'well known brands' last just 5 mins before the holes appear, and that's without any heavy use!

I had considered darning them, but the quality of most ready-made socks is so poor it's hardly worthwhile.
Such a shame and very bad for the environment

Got two pair of wool socks made by a shepherd in Northumberland. Had them six years, still going strong. Too warm for summer though.

You have to pay proper money to get quality socks that last, but quality is hard to come by.
Will check out the sock links a few of you have posted up, thank you!

I found an old sock darning mushroom in one of my sewing boxes the other day 😁 (y)
It's been well used, looking pretty chewed! 😂

Yes I totally agree!
As an example I bought some Pringle socks at great expense and bugger me, even they went into holes in next to no time, so I contacted Pringles head office and was told that they had franchised the name for anything other than a very limited few products, but they hadn't made socks for many a long year!
It's exactly the same with so many other branded clothing goods these days and the worrying thing for me as a retired marketing professional, is that surely it must devalue the hard earned quality image of the parent brand, yet from what I have discovered, they don't seem to give a damn!

I think it depends what you want out of your socks. Since I retired it’s just to stop sweaty trainers so for me cotton trainer socks are all I need. Multipack will easily last me over a year and you can get for peanuts.
If you do serious climbing, hiking, rigorous manual work you may well need good socks though

You're spot on there, Millie.

I bought packs of high brand socks from T K Maxx over the last 3-4 years thinking I'd got myself some quality at a bargain price.
No chance! They disintegrated in next to no time - much faster than any of the cheaper supermarket brands.

Definitely caveat emptor!

Think we might have to find someone who's good at knitting to get their needles out and create socks that will be worth darning when they start wearing out. ;)
