The death penalty

A New York bus conucter was found guilty of 5 counts of murder and was sentenced to death, this was in 19 65 apparently, after long protracted appeals all denied he was piit in the Electric chair which failed to kill him, they tried 3 more times I think it was and still it failed, another appeal and because of the trauma he had suffered his sentence was repealed to life in Prison, he became the subject of many studies even appearing on T V from his cell he was asked why he thought that the Electric Chair failed to kill him as it should have done and he replied well that is easy I am a bad Conductor hee hee
I had a feeling that over here after 3 failed attempts to end life you were set free , I might be wrong .

Still got that belief and don’t really care too much what goes on elsewhere that’s up to other people and their beliefs and consciences. I helped produce my 3 children and as far as I’m concerned my job till the day I die is to protect them and hopefully with a bit of luck and skill they might come out the other end unscathed. I’d hate to think what I’d do to someone who done something serious to them. Hanging would be a let off. Am I sounding like Liam Neeson here I have a particular set of skills.😎😂 Remeber I grew up in Paisley.

Reminds me of the ladies caught by the germans ww2 for spying, they were told that exicution would be by what there husband worked at,
First ladie said electrican, ok electricution for you, second ladie said plumber, ok you shall be drowned, third ladie, well my husband is a jockey, 😂

OR, based on the products made in their hometown. First lady said she came from Sheffield where cutlery was made, so she should be beheaded; second ;ady came from Birmingham, where guns were made, so she was to be shot; the third lady came from Norwich where they made ice lollies ...

If I had more confidence in Our Policing Methods & with more correct DNA Results in today's age resulting in the Guilty party being Convicted I would be all for it "Eye for an Eye" Thinking that the threat of the " Death Penalty " would be off putting to criminals. You only have to look at that y/day bloke done 20yrs for a crime he didn't commit...where was THAT DNA evidence 20yr ago.
20 years ago DNA was nowhere near the DNA of today and the science is still moving forward.

I see a pattern developing.

I read that Singapore are going to execute the first woman for 20 years.

I cant recall a discussion on the death penalty on here and hopefully this would not contravene any rules on politics.

I'd be interested to hear your views on it.
It would cut the cost of housing the guilty pedos and killers. Having the option might deter a few

They're called pensioners

Naw, we pensioners are just 'pending biodegradables', and, judging by the smell emanating from the Post Office pension queue, some have started to ripen already ... 1/4 mile long and smells of urine and Steradent style of thing ... :ROFLMAO:

Steve

Killing is wrong regardless of who is doing it, build more escape-proof prisons and stop access to Drugs, TV, phones and computers it's not a holiday camp.
I heard someone in politics say that the punishment is the losing of their liberty and that it would be wrong for prison staff to also treat them a way that made them humanely rue the day the order to 'take them down' was made. Ummm .... what PIFFLE. Hard labour, make 'em sweat and give back to society.....

.... and no person has the right to take another persons life, ever.

Showing your age here, long time since pensions were paid at the post office

There is a cost, but would you rather she got an easy way out.

She doesn't deserve to draw breath ....my opinion!
It's a fine line we walk, I understand your feelings, but are we any better if we go back to killing people too.

In reality, you will get your wish within the year as "prison justice" will ensure she won't draw breath for that long.
As far as having a death penalty, there are way too many (one is too many for that matter) of innocent people being hung for it to exist. Maybe you could say "oh, it could be used only when really sure?" but aren't supposedly all guilty verdicts given when people are sure? and still innocent people got hung.

And I have no doubt a case where a guilty verdict will result in the Death Penalty will also often result in a guilty person going free if a juror is not able to make that judgement. If I were on a jury and a guilty verdict meant death, I would have to incredibly sure about the accused being guilty to make that verdict (AND beleive that was a suitable punishment), and possible more sure than it could be possible to be. So that person could end up walking free with me there even if I thought they were guilty - as "thinking" they were guilty just doesn't cut it when you are sending someone to their death.

She won't have an easy life in Prison trust me, I was a Prison officer in the dark days, imagine her banged up with other females who have had their children put in care often not their fault but caused by circumstances created by their partners etc these woman can be very vindictive especially to child killers, think about Shipmans Suicide, yeah right watch this space, as for her not appearing in Court she should be dragged in to court with tape over her mouth to face the sentence, of course this won't happen but thank the stars that Parliament is going to change laws on this.
