I always thought scotch was just a drink, my Thurso born stepmother always told me it’s Scot or Scottish lolSlightly off piste here but I could never work out when to correctly describe something or someone as "Scotch" or "Scottish"???

And something that refers to or belong to or affects the Scottish people en masse, e.g. Law usually takes the form 'Scots', so Scots LawI think I accidently stumbled upon the answer in my question...
Something can be Scotch... potatoes, whisky, mist, etc
Somebody is always Scottish
Hence the scowl when you call someone Scotch...
