UK Online Safety Act - please read!

I don’t envisage this new legislation ever being an issue with forums like this however where it’s really needed such as the anti social cess pits known as Facebook or X etc, I highly doubt it will have any effect at all.
Legislation like this is a problem when used by snowflakes. For anyone with common sense it shouldn't be needed but it is a commodity in short supply.

I will wait and see what effect it has if any

It's a fine line, but if you cannot see the abuse in this then maybe...

"So free speech is being abusive to others? What a nice person you are!"

Sarcasm can be a form of abuse.
Oh dear! Someone mentioned snowflakes in one post. If you believe that, then I would lump you in with that! My point was that abuse (not banter and arguments on a forum, but abuse) is not necessary. Anyone can be robust without causing upset or stress to another.

I have Tourettes

The Internet is not the real world if you do not like something you read or something someone says to you or writes about you you can just click away and ignore it I never let any insults real or perceived bother me or worry about Jane's etc I get called I did have good training there however as in the dark days when working I was a Prison Officer and boy you need a thick skin there hee hee good luck Phill with your new hassle of new legislation

So free speech is being abusive to others? What a nice person you are!

Of course it can be abusive to others, you just proved it above.

Show me where I was abusive? I just stated my take on his post. And why will this new law and the rules on this site kill off free speech? It will kill off nasty attacks on people, but if that is what free speech means you or anyone, it is a pretty sad state of affairs!
The point here is that any criticism can be (mis)construed as abuse -- and that's precisely why this new law is a de-facto attack on free speech. I suspect that any reasonable person would interpret your sarcasm against @maingate to be criticism and thus something that can be construed as abuse under the new legislation -- even though both of you were merely expressing your opinions. BTW, I fully accept that, just by pointing this out, my post here can also be (mis)construed as abuse. As Rowan Atkinson once noted, the best defence against offensive speech is more speech, not censoriousness.

If you take this thing seriously anyone could get the forums shut down, then what will all the snowflakes do?
