Carnival.
Mass at the church, today.
Dancing in the streets, semi naked wenches cavorting on tractor- towed floats, through the towns, throwing handfuls of sweets to the fancy dressed spectators.
Roadside food and drink stalls doing a roaring trade as the samba dancing crowds get into the party spirit.
Normal working day, tomorrow.....
Shrove Tuesday is the full on party .
That's the theory!
Back to reality:

We had a Sahara Plume of fine, brown powder, overnight, followed by a short drizzle, to make it stick.
It's grey, and 12 degrees..
Roll on Tuesday.. The forecast looks more promising...

On the trip from Penicuik to Penwortham today we encountered temperatures varying from 2deg to 11deg, high winds, calm weather, pouring rain, mist, gloom and even bright sunshine over Shap.
