Weather Report..................

Difficult to believe for some of you I know but in Aberdeenshire we have had nothing but sunshine today! Got a huge amount of work done outside in the smallholding and the domestic solar and Powerwall storage battery have really worked well today. Still sittting with a full battery even after using loads of power in the house and charging up both EV’s - thankyou Mr Sunshine. Haven’t used any peak time power from the grid today.

Morning Blighty.

Only 24 on the Mezzanine.
Gentle Northerly breeze.
If it doesn't warm up soon, I'll have to put a tee shirt on.

We're more concerned about wild fires. Emergency escape bags packed.
Hope we won't need them.

Beautiful morning in Abbots Ripton for the main day of the Citroen national rally, hopefully without the showers of yesterday. ⛅⛅⛅

Yesterday's warning of fallen trees was correct, but people generally stayed indoors. 👍

Today is completely different, being a lovely warm summer's day, with light south westerlies and a 19 degree high. ⛅ ☀️ ☀️

A bright start will turn into light showers throughout the morning, when just after lunch, it'll brighten up and turn into a lovely bright warm day. ⛅ 🌦️ ☀️

Pleasant at but heating up now.
Wind due to change from the northerly sector, to South.

Safer from the wildfires.

Won't need my leather jacket scarf and gloves.

In East Sussex we've a perfect Summer Day ahead of us, dry, bright, a gentle southerly breeze, and 22 degree high. ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

Cooler, cloudy day, in spite of yellow alerts for high temperature and UV levels.
Feels sticky and we were talking about not being surprised to hear the rumble of thunder.
Forecast now says 27% chance of a shower.

Lots of very Welsh weather here in Tywyn, it lasted all day but has finally dried up now. There's a promise of better tomorrow, so out on the bikes.
The THS is only £13.50 a night so compared to other nearby sites and greedy CS owners it's a bargain. In fact, looking at what is being charged elsewhere it might be a long time before we're back in Wales

Generally a pleasantly dry, bright, Summer's day with a light westerly breeze and 23 degree high, although there is the possibility of a light shower some time this afternoon. ⛅ 🌦️ ⛅

............ Still sittting with a full battery even after using loads of power in the house and charging up both EV’s - ............
We had an EV for two years and 8000 miles, after which its range was 35 miles - at night in the rain in winter admittedly. The Nissan dealer plugged their computer in and declared that it needed a new £5000 battery because I had plugged it in to recharge it when it was already 80% full. That invalidates the warranty, he said. The reason we did that was because we have solar panels and naturally whenever the sun shone we rushed out and plugged the car in.
Were you warned not to recharge an EV when it is already 80% full? We weren't.

Not warned as such but both the charging app on the phone and on the screen in the car indicate for daily use stop charging at 80% and only charge to 100% if needed for a long trip and never leave it charged at 100% for more than an hour or so. However my 8 year Tesla battery warranty is not invalidated if you charge to 100% nor, surprisingly, if you only charge on superchargers.

Ah that's interesting. One might wonder then, if the car is so stuffed full of computers it cannot switch off its charging at 80% and signal somehow to you to ask if you really want it charged to 100%. Mine was a Leaf, and so far as I know it didn't have a phone app to tell me when it was at 80%, or indeed at 100. It had a light on the dashboard which flashed blue when it was fully charged. So I just left it plugged in until the blue light flashed.
The car had a claimed 125 mile range on a full charge, but if you can only realistically charge it to 80%, and I found out later that you are not supposed to let it go below 20%, then the actual range is 60% of 125 miles, or in real life as car manufacturers always exaggerate mileage claims whether petrol, diesel or electric, the real range would have been 60% of 100 miles, which of course is 60. On a sunny day in a straight line without any stops, traffic lights, bends, hills, with the radio off and a following wind at 45mph. As this was a few years ago, (working) charging stations tended to be more than 60 miles apart. I tried three that were out of order for one reason or another. One had been stolen.
Luckily I had it on a PCP with very good terms and I could just give it back with no baloon payment after two years. I didn't have to pay for a new battery.
