Weather Report..................

Ah that's interesting. One might wonder then, if the car is so stuffed full of computers it cannot switch off its charging at 80% and signal somehow to you to ask if you really want it charged to 100%. Mine was a Leaf, and so far as I know it didn't have a phone app to tell me when it was at 80%, or indeed at 100. It had a light on the dashboard which flashed blue when it was fully charged. So I just left it plugged in until the blue light flashed.
The car had a claimed 125 mile range on a full charge, but if you can only realistically charge it to 80%, and I found out later that you are not supposed to let it go below 20%, then the actual range is 60% of 125 miles, or in real life as car manufacturers always exaggerate mileage claims whether petrol, diesel or electric, the real range would have been 60% of 100 miles, which of course is 60. On a sunny day in a straight line without any stops, traffic lights, bends, hills, with the radio off and a following wind at 45mph. As this was a few years ago, (working) charging stations tended to be more than 60 miles apart. I tried three that were out of order for one reason or another. One had been stolen.
Luckily I had it on a PCP with very good terms and I could just give it back with no baloon payment after two years. I didn't have to pay for a new battery.
Last on this subject from me as it’s a weather thread - incidentally weather in NE Scotland is not at all bad at the moment, if slightly chilly at 12 deg, dry with a hint of sun.

I can set a charge limit in app or the cars (as well as scheduling charging for my off peak tariff) and I usually keep this around 60% unless I have a long trip planned when I increase it to what I reckon is needed. On the big Tesla the BMS indicated 326 miles range at 100% when new and now at nearly 4 years old with 26000 miles the BMS indicates a range of 322 miles. Not bad at all if you trust the BMS figures but then I rarely charge to 100%.

Here in East Sussex the forecasters suggest that we are about to enter an extended period of unsettled weather. 😯

However, today it will again be lovely and bright, with warm light westerly breezes. ☀️ 🌥️ ⛅

Pretty grey and chilly here in Aberdeenshire, but meanwhile my son who lives in Guernsey just sent me a few pictures from over there today. He took his wife and her best pal in his boat over to Sark from Guernsey for a meal in Stocks Hotel then stopped off in Fermain Bay on the way back for a drink on the excuse of having to wait for the Marina in St Peter Port to open. What makes you think I’m a tad envious! When are we going to get a bit of sun and warmth?
