Hertfordshire is grey, cold and still with an air temperature of about 6°C this afternoon. That's sufficiently cold for this southerner to think seriously about a third layer of thermal socks, a second overcoat plus ski trousers. And overnight it's predicted to fall marginally below zero!
Whaaaat?
It may be about time for an escape to warmer climes.

Looks like a lot of folk have had the wet stuff pretty bad further south

Some heavy rain here last few days with a few standing puddles in fields and on roads and pavements where the drainage isn't so good, but nothing like you guys in the middle of the country.

This morning we woke up to a really heavy frost, everywhere white, so looks like winter is getting ready to nip our fingers and toes.

I predict a cold winter. We should start taking bets...?

We're feeling happy.
The temperature is actually 5 degrees higher than we expected.. ..
3 sub-tropical degrees..!
While it may be damp, grey and miserable, the drizzle is washing the frost off the cars.
Only 5 more sleeps, before they drag us, kicking and protesting, onto the plane.

That had me scouring the internet, Dave. No, really!
My first thought was that it's a northern item of clothing intended to keep the body from freezing to the core.
Apparently it's a spray-on fluid for removing ice from windscreens.
Sometimes spelt with a hyphen. ().

I just like to keep you on your toes Colin. Obviously to avoid frostbite setting in as you had a cloak of white particles this morning ....

22 at 7 this morning and 34 to come later, with the usual unbroken blue skies. It is a little warmer than usual for the time of year, but cooling back to mid 20s next week. Almost all the rest of the USA is being battered by winter storms, which have started very early this year.
