Weather Report..................

Bright and blue skies this morning, enough snow left for the grandkids to go sledging, but thawing now. Worst floods since records began in Northwich, both swing bridges over the River Weaver closed as flood water is now running over the top of them.

That's so sad, Dave. I really feel for everybody affected by flood water. It must be absolutely devastating.

Herts was sunny earlier this morning so I took advantage of the situation and had a fairly long bike ride along the Lee valley then up onto the Chilterns. It was breezy but so very, very good to be out and about getting some exercise and having oxygen flush through this old body.
I returned under thick cloud but, more importantly, it was still dry.

We loved Northwich.
We used to take the van to nearby A&E Leisure, to replace bits that wore out/ dropped off/ or both.
Many a happy hour in the exquisite Wetherspoons.
Met some real characters, while waiting for the phone call, telling us to come and collect the van.
Sometimes I'd surreptitiously turn the phone off.
Looks a sad place now.
Gentle rain here.
Just what we need.
The first Almond blossom broke, today.
That's a sign of the end of winter.
Better get a stock of G&T materials in.

Been raining all day again here, mild 12c. It was time for a bit of rain, had enough now though! Think we are due a bit of sunshine tomorrow, need to get that roof on the logstore. The stream on the lowest terrace is flowing faster than we have known it for several years. Makes a nice noise in the background.

Doubly sad Paul as the Bullring end of town was just starting to pick up with new independent shops and bars, most have been badly flooded out 🙁 On a positive note, the offers of help from the wider community to those in need have been exceptional, temporary help for all the evacuated boat owners in the marina and residents of the sheltered housing by being put up in the local Travel Lodges, as well as offers of temporary shelter for the boat owners dogs as they can't be accommodated in the Travel Lodges.
Oh, and Wetherspoons will be fine on the higher ground 👍

Must have been before your Bentley!

Must have been before your Bentley!
Even the Bentley, Bill. After 8 years of mistreatment, insertion into inappropriate places and over-excessive use.
The first two vans crumbled much earlier.
We had an annual invite to the A&E staff Xmas Party.

After blustery overnight rain, it's calm, bright and peaceful.
The goats are chomping on the paddock.
The Sun's breaking through the light clouds.
Optimism abounds.

We still have big gusts of wind here, with rain. Lost the patio chairs over onto the lower terrace during the night! Luckily they are sturdy and suffered no harm. Our breadman had trouble holding the van door open when he was delivering our bread earlier.
Still, it's quite mild. Feel for those in UK suffering with floods.

About right for late January
Gusty , variable winds.
Clouds scudding all over the shop, Sunny intervals, ( until we tried to sit out with coffee ).
Back indoors. Brandy tot applied for and issued.
