What is it with people and other people's dogs?

It’s people who have bred the domestic dogs we now have.

Therein lies a whole argument/emotive can of worms.

Dogs guaranteed to suffer with health problems all their lives just because some people wanted a dog to look a certain way to satisfy some kind of vanity? Take the “macho” or “look at me” breeds as just one example. XL bully anyone? Greyhounds that are bred for one purpose then chucked on the scrap heap (literally euthanised) when no longer fit for purpose. And the recent trend in “doodles”. A lot of the animals are mere fashion items, or status symbols, 9 times out of 10.

Like I said, it’s people who are out of control, not the dogs. The majority of dogs wouldn’t be here without the breeders and a desire to make money out of them.

In my experience a mongrel has less health problems than a thorough bred.

That's right. Get them used to being around people and ignoring them, not getting them to think everyone wants to play.
Maybe YOU need to get used to being around people with your dogs.

You shouldn't be surprised that some other people also like dogs or that not all of those people are able to 'have' their own and want to help you socialise your dogs by engaging with them (and you) at some level.

You chose to take your dogs, you need to deal with the consequences instead of expecting other people to bend to your wishes.

No need to apologise.

It's only the bad owners who should do that and then maybe change their ways.

And can dogs be trained not to piss on other peoples property? I had my recliners pissed on as I was getting them out to take down to a beach. When I complained the owner offered to wipe the urine off with a tissue. How can you get that off cloth without washing; even a rinse in the sea would have been just about acceptable but no that was refused. Irresponsible sods.

And where do you think the fishes and crustaceans pee and poo? In the same water to rinse off the dog pee, the sea, not to mention humans, too!!

And why do we think it OK to discharge sewage into the sea eh (long sea outfalls) ? Because the UV in the sunlight and micro organisms in the water sterilise the water but the stink of dried dog pee on my property lasts for ever or at least until I wash it off. And in the sea it is hugely diluted anyway. But the main point is that an irresponsible dog owner allowed it to happen In the first place and refused to rectify the matter to my satisfaction

You need to decompress Harry. I would have bought you a replacement chair 👍

Maybe you are a responsible dog owner unlike the family to which I was referring. I did decompress from that dive un-unnervingly hanging in the water with about 30 sharks circling. My diving instructor daughter in her chain mail suit reckoned I was quite safe. Quite was the word!

We do try to be responsible, not the first time I’ve had to drag him away when I see the leg going up where it is not appropriate, that said though, we can let our guard slip.

It’s the giant Moray Eels that scare the Ch*t out of me!!

Yes they have a nasty propensity to go up the leg of your shorts but congers are just as bad.

And if they bite, they lock on and twist as a croc does. Congers are less evil looking, although there use to be some big beasts at Conger Alley, Loch Long.

Can't say I have ever had a problem with Moray owners, in fact I don't remember coming across any.

Seen a few congas at parties when everyone was drunk. :giggle:
