Hi, I have a x290 comfortmatic with 15" wheels. i am thinking about changing them to 16" still the same pcd of 118mm.Has anyone done this and are there any negatives.The tyres are due for replacement anyway
I changed for 15in wheel to 16in several years ago only prob I found it knocks your speedo out but I just us the satnav speedo so no prob I was using 225 x 70 x 15in tyres I now use 225 x 75 x 16in with a load rating of 120/121 so much higher than standard.

If you get bigger tyres, you would usually get tyres with a lower profile in order to keep the same rolling circumference. Pros and Cons -
Appearance to some is better;
less roll around corners - irrelevant really on a camper.
less give if you hit a pothole - also means more potential to damage a rim on a big hole.
FWIW, When I got new wheels, I decided to get new 15" ones to give a bit more suspension and the roads round here are crap.
Nah. Get the right wheel and tyre combo and it will read the same. If you get a bigger rolling circumference, it will read a bit higher. if you go too far you will be fouling the tyres on the van bodywork.
Note that changing the rolling circumference will have other effects than just the speedo. Go larger and it will effectively change the gearing and you will be going faster then before at a given engine speed; your acceleration will be impacted and you could potentially increase the strain on the gearbox.
as part of upgrading the weight on mine i got the bigger wheels my speedo was always 7% out the bigger wheels corrected that fractionally better mph & on the whole a better driving experience but that may be more likely down to the air bags

I found the same Ken .same speed less revs + for me the alloy wheel I fitted had a different offset giving me a 3in wider track and the tyre are know where near the bodywork or suspention .
Hi, all changed the wheels and tyres. went for nexen roadian ct8, as they were original tyre and no issues with them.
The-wheel-shop. com, Rochester, provided the once used rims and delivered 24 hours later.The speedo is accurate at 30, 40 and 50 mph, still have to check 60 & 70
