Where was your first night in a new van

we are now on our 5th van, in order these were the first nights and mileage’s from home.
dunbar 360miles
llangolen 270 miles
langres france 540 miles
devizes 170 miles
hastings 85 miles can’t wait Friday night disappearing down to the south coast for first night in van get away ?

Canterbury park and ride aire. We crossed to France the day after picking it up. No chance to road test it ... fortunately nothing major went wrong over the 6 months away.

Mine was the Hereford meet with this van we picked it up on route with all my stuff loaded into Daisymini Sue's van and our car.

We went up to watch the Open and stayed on a lovely CL/CS at East Fortune. Previous owner had bodged the electrics which had caused the battery to overcharge, fortunately we discovered this before it killed us!

First night in this van was on the drive. It was a good way to check that all the systems were working and get used to it.We got some strange looks from the neighbours in the morning though.

Our first night was spent at a site in Worksop, near to where we bought the van. As well as keeping our neighbours amused by repeatedly triggering the alarm as we did'nt understand it we also tripped the hook up by overloading it.

Our first night was on a site in Thornfalcon near where we bought the MH from (courtesy of the dealer) giving us the opportunity to try things out and then report back the two very minor problems, which were fixed immediately. Then went on to spend a couple of days in Looe, and wildcamped.

Our first night was on the site at Thurston Manor, south of Edinburgh. We were asleep when the clubhouse closed about midnight and it was at this stage that we discovered we were parked next to the extended family from hell who were camping in several tents. Our kids were terrified by the behavior just a few feet away and the experience almost put us off, but luckily we persevered and quickly became dedicated converts.

was going to spend the night on the drive or parked on road outside the house.....then decided to be * adventurous* and plucked up the courage to park up a couple of streets away.......at the top of the road where it was not outside someones house.....it then took us another half hour or so to drum up courage to to get from the cab into the living area.......had a good nights sleep......

however, in the morning......folks around walking dogs,, on their way to catch a bus,...cars going up the road, we then had to start all over again.. plucking up courage to get from living area back into cab....lol..

Only 2 vans so far in 12 years of motorhoming:

Van 1 - in-laws drive in Penwortham as we bought the van from Brownhills in Preston. We could have come straight home as no faults encountered with van (Burstner 680i)
Van 2 - Hertford C & CC site as it was near the dealer we purchased from. Just as well as we returned to the dealer the next day for several items to be fixed. (Frankia i7400)

Van 3 - on order but not arrived yet. Already planning to stay on dealers compound. (Hymer Mli570)

We spent the first night at the dealers in order to familiarise ourselves with the van and be in a position to have a recap on anything we had forgotten. It was a snowy night and our dealer was 100 miles from our home. It made sense to stay there rather than drive in the darkness and snow. A good move as it turns out Hymer headlights are poor.

We spent the first night on seafront at Deal. It was only the first part of the night as our roll-up water bag burst about 1am and flooded the van and the foot of the bed. Luckily only 3/4 hr drive home!

Only one self build which we after a long build stayed in carlingford south harbour wilding for one night, all went well beds comphy, only thing was a knock at about 2am to which i kept qt and it stopped, may have been the garda.

First night in this van was a campsite in cheddar gorge, near the dealer. We went back in the morning as there was a door catch broken and leaking sink....
next few nights were on Ham Hill where we managed to dump the full tank of fresh water twice before resolving...

We brought the van a week ago and it's still in the garage being fixed !! The break lines went , I feel luck to have made it home ( the hand break worked) Still the garage is making it safe , I just hope we have it back tomorrow:) The distance away to Abingdon is about 20 miles .

We spent our first night wilding above middle mill Solva Pembs this was also our first experience of motorhoming.
