Where was your first night in a new van

Outside the German dealer' showroom to make sure everything worked before I made my way home.

The dealers little site just up the road. To familiarise ourselves and check for problems. Next day no problems headed up towards Scotland.

First van Renault Trafic, Port Patrick. Second, Winnebago LeSharo, Tan Hill Inn. Now on self build Fiat Ducati. First night was at St Marys Loch.

Amazing people can remember this info and so far back!
van 1 - T4. First night. ... dunno
van 2 - T5. First night. ... ditto

I'll try and make first night in van 3 something to remember :D

Had to check our wee book  Loch Ness shores for the first night away.

Some interesting reply’s I do like the individual stories people come up with, janet and I often have totally different stories about the same place we have stayed at and only occasionally do they match,
one of our last nights in the old van was on a harbour in the very north west of Scotland, I parked up with a lovely Aclass view of the harbour and out to sea, janet heard the news and a storm threatened I said we would be ok as we were sheltered in the harbour, off to bed and the storm built so much we were moving about three inches up and down the overcab bed with every blow of the wind, of course janet was right, we should have moved before bed, I stuck a waterproof on and went outside to see where I was going to reverse as it was a bit tight parking up in daylight at this point the harbour dustbins and bucket loads of that thick sea froth that flys everywhere went whipping past whilst I was holding onto the door handle trying not to follow the dustbins, we moved inland a few miles with a very disturbed night but still had a great view of the large ships rocking and rolling out to sea whilst we tucked into our breakfast the next morning

We are on our 6th van over a period of 30 years, I’m going to struggle on the first one, I think it was Winchester in our way to the ferry at Portsmouth
Second van was somewhere near the Cotswolds
Third van, Wisbeach
Fourth was a CL at Folkestone, this was our first new van so didn’t want to go too far ( we lived in Kent then)
Fifth was West Stow in Suffolk and the last was the aire at Ram Meadow in Bury St Edmunds while visiting my Daughter.
I’ll need a lie down now after all that brain activity

Ours was in Studland village hall car park after a friend's 60th birthday party. Painless...
She remembered....!

Well. We will tell you all about it when it's happened
We have just got out vivaro back after its conversion and have yet decide in which direction to go to

We are situated in North East Derbyshire so it's central for most areas of interest i.e. Scarborough. Whitby .North Wales .Norfolk Rutland Water etc

But we would appreciate suggestions

Cheers

Drum Inn near Folkestone. Through the tunnel next day and onto Spain. Some said we were crazy to do that in a brand new van....

5 miles away on New years eve in a car park in Hayfield, Derbyshire. Friends party, no spare beds, so we took our own for its first foray (for us, anyway) into any sort motorhoming and had a great night, the hangover-well, that's another story

Ours was also at Llangollen parked up in the carpark besides the river with the sound of rushing water, not sure if we were actually allowed to be there and very nervous about getting a parking fine. Nothing said no overnight and nothing happened. I am a lot bolder now where I want to stop.

March 2015. After a quick stop at The Dores Inn to buy a "Nessie" from Steve we enjoyed our first nights out in the van at Loch Ness Shores.

My first van, a Talbot Avalon, was taken all of 14 miles to a site at Powfoot on the Solway & my pitch was just over from the shore - Magical. !!
I found out that that one didn't like me and wouldnt take me to meets. It eventually went up in flames just to spite me.
My next and current van is another Talbot, a Bedouin this time. It has the layout I wanted in a van and for its first tryout, it took me to a site in Cumbria, all of 80 miles away !

First night in our new to us van was in a wild spot over looking a loch somewhere in Scotland can't remember at this time! But remember the next morning opening the blinds and seeing this gorgeous view of the sun rising over the lock! This was in the fiats Autostratus

We collected our current camper from the Frankia factory in Germany which was great as we had a handover from the real experts and a tour of the factory

and they encouraged us to stay overnight on their service centre forecourt which had all the facilities you would expect in a CL

They told us to go through everything and to make a list of anything no matter how minor and thy would attend to it the following day

woke up next morning to find fresh bread rolls left on our camper step and the service centre manager coming over to get our list

First we drove almost 1000 km to pick up the Navajo in Zeebrugge, it was shipped over from Hull. A vehicle we had never seen and I had never driven anything larger than a 240 Volvo (towing a caravan).
The car was full, including the dogs, we had a roof box packed full.
Nobody to show us what was what, had to work it all out for ourselves.
The gas cylinders were full and some water in the tank.
We had taken a 5 ltr container for fresh water which we filled from the hotel where we spent the night.
Our first night in the Navajo was spent on a street in Zeebrugge where Motorhomes were allowed and a place to walk the dogs which was lucky.

The next day Hans drove the car I drove the Navajo. 20 mins into the journey a TNT lorry cut in too soon and smashed the mirror, luckily Hans managed to fit it all together again on the hard shoulder of the motorway.

Why we bought a RHD from the UK is another story.

We spent the first night on seafront at Deal. It was only the first part of the night as our roll-up water bag burst about 1am and flooded the van and the foot of the bed. Luckily only 3/4 hr drive home!

Whats one of them when its at home ?
