Why not use your van in winter?

we always use the van during winter never have it laid up.
its a great feeling wakening up in the highlands and about to snow in the morning.go to bed cold out but warm inside ,during the night you hear the noise on the roof and bingo you get up in the morning to snow !abso magic ,don’t see the point having a van that can withstand winters and only use it in the summer
ANYONE else think like this or are we just going nutty?

Yeah dinnae see the point in it trev spend £££££££s on a veh to put it into storage for the winter .i understand it in certain circumstances it can’t happen but I feel it’s a waste of money .would you be better to hire if and when required then?

I use my van as my car as well so it’s never sitting around for more than a couple of days

Winter is my favourite time of year to be out in the van I love the colours, the extreme weather conditions especially the snow so yes mine is out all year in fact it's out on the road more than on the drive lol

This Christmas Eve, we are travelling to a secluded hard sand beach where we will prepare our Christmas dinner, (a full omnivorous sort!) and weather permitting we will have our dinner on the beach under the awning. Can hardly wait!

We use our van far more in the winter than summer. Could be to do with the fact that we live within such easy reach of some of the most beautiful parts of the UK and these are fantastic in the winter. Everywhere is also much quieter. With decent insulation and heating the van soon gets really toasty.

I have just come back from my first ever winter trip out in my VW T5, using a little oil radiator. It worked great and kept me snug. I will be out and about all the time now!

What have you done to your van to make it suitable for full winter?

heated grey water tank?
Extra insulation?
insulated pipework?
anything else?

We're getting a 2nd had van soon, but not sure just how ready it is for sub-zero temps.

Like Rockburner, we want to use our new van in winter but aren't sure how suitable it is. Can anyone tell us what they've done to make their van OK for winter use? Do you need to insulate pipes, heat water tanks, insulate pipes etc etc? We have heating (gas or electric) and could take water with us, if it's not safe to use the onboard pipes and tanks in really cold weather.

We use the camper all year. Parking is easier in winter. I love returning from a walk or just exploring where we have landed and after being snuggled up inside with a cup of tea , nothing better.

Couldn’t agree more , winter motorhoming is just as good as summer.

Well up to press everyone must use there vans all winter as no one has given a reason not to

We motorhome in the winter. We like Derbyshire for a walk and a cosy pub meal, we also like Whitby in the winter. We used to love going to Caister to the hotel with the swimming pool, in the New Year. It's such a shame they don't allow motorhomes anymore.

Im in my van all the time anyway but you cant beat being out somewhere really exposed in winter especially with howling winds.

I try not to expose myself to much when out in the van.

Definitely! Quiet roads, easy parking, as long as you've warm clothes it,s great.
