Wipers stopped working

Final final note ( might help someone in future?)...
I couldn't help taking the motor apart. The windings and everything within the cover, brushes etc all looked good with no sign of corrosion or burning, so I replaced the cover. The gearbox cover with electric. Conn. Is riveted so doesn't look serviceable ? I removed the rivets and opened the gearbox and again all looked well. I could see a couple of connections on the motor side so connected fly leads to a battery and the motor spun into life.
Sadly despite looking perfectly ok, when the elec conn. Was refitted I could not get it to move again.
So the problem is not with the motor itself but within the connector block which must have some electrical gubbins inside the plastic case. I cannot see a replacement part for that bit anywhere sadly.
Post mortem complete.
