Another, if wet, day in a very pleasant location in Portugal.
Did a shop yesterday, with Lee. Topped up with supplies, milk meat, pasta and of course loo rolls. I bought these because they will be used as currency when the financial markets crash. Alternatively, I could use them for their intended purpose. A visit to the pharmacy was a different experience to the uk. Took in the cards containing my meds, not the boxes, or prescriptions, only the cards. Bought sufficient for a month or so. No problem at all. Result.
If you can remember way back in the mists of time, to this time last year. I was having problems with internet connection via my phone. This year I thought I’d cracked it. 100gb of data on Vodafone. TBH it’s worked well up to a few days ago.
Where we are my three travel companions have a full phone signal using 3, gif gaff.
Vodafone? I’m down to an intermittent 1 bar. When 02 cut me off last year, Vodafone seemed to be the one to go for. Wrong again. Nothing unusual there then 🙄. Sod’s law? Moving on would alter that immediately. But then I’d loose the security of good friends. Although we are keeping our distance from each other, except when we’re not.😇. We are staying well, as far as I know.
If we have to self isolate, we couldn’t pick a better place.

Luckly my insurance is for 6 months; so I don't need to head back till the beginning of June. Instead of travelling around I'm going to stay in the Algarve. Its been great getting here meeting up with Lee and Linda, Pauljenni, Rugbyken, Mobilvetta and others.
Enjoy your adventure and stay safe

I was going to sit it out in the Algarve too, but the latest advice I have had is that the foreign office guidance sayes that we should return home ASAP. If you do not do that your insurance may not be valid. I too have insurance till June and am not a happy bunny.
I’m going to sit tight for the time being. My concerns include being stopped at a border, and then being placed in some kind of “refugee camp”. Yes I know I’m exaggerating, but a packed Aire, wouldn’t be a lot different. Getting diesel could also be problematic. Fuel station operator’s can’t “work from home”.

We were visited by the GNR yesterday afternoon. The Dutch people two vans down said that he was the local police chief. His visit was to ensure we were safe and well. He has said that we were welcome to stay here as long as we need to. If we are moved on, that would be because of orders far above his pay grade. He seemed to be one of life’s gents.
“Stay as long as you like, buy a house, no problem”.
How different to my last visit from the GNR, eleven months ago.
ATM, we are all still well. Let’s hope it stays that way.😬

The CCC are pressuring members on rallies to return home. They have sent an email with their interpretation of the above advice. Not sure how to attach the letter.
Driving over 2000kms through 3 countries to get to Calais as they want does not seem to be essential travel to me.

No, 2000kms isn’t essential travel is it. Although a member I’ve received nothing from CC&C. Possibly because I’ve not got their travel insurance. I’m still waiting for an answer from Staysure, re my insurance. If they refuse cover, I’ll depend on the E111. Whatever that’s worth.
Fortunately, I’m with friends. And we are all well.

There was something on the radio yesterday Meg but it was for people in hotels. They advised people to leave before the hotels got shut down.

That's because the hotels are being requisitioned as hospital beds, Neil.
At least they are in Spain, I guess they will be in Portugal too, if necessary.

We have decided to take the plunge and head back to the UK , it was looking highly lot that we would have been kicked off the Aires ss there was so many Vans there , most sat outside with the table and chairs out , so not worth the risk . We have just arrived about 30 miles into France and already been asked for the travel form twice , I have filled mine in on the laptop and they are happy enough with that , managed to book the train for next Wednesday so just need to get Roxy to the vet's then a peaceful drive to Calais

let us know the situation with the vet are you going mailleyre sur seine ?

Van insurance is with Caravan and Motorhome Club, but had to buy local insurance for Turkey ... so a bit irrelevant unless we attempt to drive back.
travel insurance is with Staysure ... email in with them to check no changes to policy etc
Derek, let me know what you hear back from them.

Will you stay put? Suspect their advice is under duty of care In case the situation gets worse on the sites members are on all the countries they are in.
We completely agree that travelling seems they are responsible.

The situation has become worse. The site has closed many of its facilities. We have to stay in our vans except for going for food. If we leave the site even on foot we are not allowed back in unless we have masks and gloves. Masks are not available. I can walk the dog.

Oh my goodness. I did wonder about shared facilities. How can you get food with no mask? Do you have enough or can someone pick items up for you?

Bad night in Demi. My old travelling companions turned up last night. Sickness and diarrhoea. Can’t say I’d missed them . They’ve been away for three or four years. TBH, if they’d never come back ever, I’d been happy. Still their here now, and will be for a few days. I knew I’d stocked up on loo rolls for a reason.
Life in a smelly van seems to be what it’s going to be for now.
Should I rename this thread Adventureb4 diarrhoea? 😬😬😬😣🤮
