I purchased my Elddis 185 2019 .
Since almost every comment /review has been critical of build quality, damp problems ...I am just beginning to doubt the wisdom of purchasing from this manufacturer...Would like to hear from any member/s who have a positive experience

Had or still have an elddis caravan and it fell to bits with damp after many years mind you, swift is another bad make.

I have an Elddis Autoquest 140se bought new in 2013. Only ever had one problem with it since purchase and that was the mounting for the electric step. I removed the bike rack which had a box on it, as it was suspected water ingress as the damp meter showed 20% at the bottom rear corner. I was advised that water may have got in via the light cluster, but I think it was the mounting for the bike rack with the box pulling on the back panel when driving along and the fact it was the incorrect bike rack fitted. Over the past two years since there has been no increase to the damp meter or any further issues at this time. All in all we are very happy with the van. Would have had the version with dinette if it would have fitted in garden.

Thanks, good to hear a good review

Why cannot they make floors and other bits out of a composite other than old wood, grp plastics or alloys etc
I think it's because thay don't need to Jo blogs is buying thr campers anyway. And in most cases it will be someone else who has the problem. As warranty will be out. While thay will have to fix some. I'm sure thay can live with that. And wood will be the cheapest option

Have experience no problems with our 2014 Accordo 125 apart from the pressure relief valve needing replacing twice on the water heater (commonly reported fault).

There was also the common problem with the warning lights glowing but that was a Peugeot problem rathe than Elddis.

My last Autotrail was riddled with damp despite it having annual hab checks. It was a 2012 model as well. It had 3 visits to dealers for remedial action, the last time involved replacing most of the internals at the back. I say all this just to say that it's not just Elddis. A chap in our village bought a new Bailey and he has had horrendous problems with damp in that too.

I bought a new 155 in October 2018, first habitation check 2019 the battery box had to be removed, the area dried out and a new box fitted. 2020 check the under seat storage area was water marked and the large area under both seats had to be removed, dried out and new insulation board fitted. I'm dreading October coming as God knows what they will find.
I only bought another Elddis as my last Elddis was 9 years old and riddled with damp which I attributed to many previous owners not storing or maintaining the vehicle. How wrong was I.

I've probably had more van than most, and they have all had water ingress somewhere, none working appliances, leaking pipes, control panels not working, not had much of a problem with the base vehicles, Turbo on a Sprinter, Diesel tank l leaking had to replace it as it had rusted through, had to replace a rusted through Boxer sump.

Man was on the moon in 1969 and now there are vehicles on Mars...yet we still have to suffer these issues when buying very expensive pieces of kit!

Not right is it?

Did your motorhome cost as much as the vehicles on Mars? I have no doubt the technology to build better motorhomes exists but I am not sure we would be prepared to pay the price. For most purchasers price is an important factor. Many purchasers seem to be drawn to motorhomes with all the latest gadgets and comforts but I am not sure they pay so much attention to the structural components. If you want the latest gadgets and the latest construction technology you are likely to be paying nearer £100,000 than £50,000 for a new one. However, I would agree that some manufactures are guilty of shoddy build quality and this is unacceptable.

It was said rather tongue in cheek but 50k+ is still a great deal of money to most people.

I agree £50k is a lot of money. Sadly if one shiny white box costs a lot less than another shiny white box, with a similar specification, there is likely to be a reason for it.

True in terms of spec but in basics like weather proofing and sealing, I would expect all manufacturers to be 100% on top of this. If nothing else it stops/reduces warranty claims...and there is no profit to be made out of those.

I had a 2015 Elddis Accordo 125 bought it second hand and it was 2 years old when i had purchased it. I kept it for 3 years and had no issues apart from the on board charger packed in and it was replaced under warranty, was a great van. I now have 2018 Elddis Encore 285 with no issues had heavy snow wind and rain and it has been fine. This is my 5th van to date.
