After a call this afternoon I'm told my licences are in the pist yahoooooooo

having to cancel my ferry bookings after getting in touch with the dvla who are renewing all my licences ,all has been processed bar my medical papers and eye test which they were looking at but the guy on the phone says it may be a few weeks to return then
I sent them recorded delivery and offered to pay for return recorded but fell on deaf ears just reiterated can't say exactly when aghhhhhhhhhh

Really sorry to hear that Gordon. Hope that you can get away as soon as they do arrive.

Did you cancel, Gordon, or just postpone? I had to postpone our Newhaven crossing in late Nov 2021 when the M/Home ECU failed, and DFDS put an electronic credit note on my account, allowing a full offset against our eventual sailing in early March 2022 [the trip where we met you and Fiona at Gruissan Harbour!]

Hi Gordon,

I emailed DFDS on the evening of 15/11/21 to ask for a rough idea of the cost of changing the Crossing Date, explaining that I couldn't fix a date because I didn't know how long the repairs were going to take [same problem as you with no firm date for receipt of driving licence]. Some of my emails have disappeared, but I got the auto email acknowledgement 5 minutes after my initial email, and then I remember getting a reply about 2 days later, indicating that I had an effective credit note by way of a 'Dummy Booking', and asking me to contact DFDS when I wished to make a firm revised booking, and I would only have to pay any difference in the Fare [no admin fees!]. In practice, the March 2022 fare was about £50 cheaper, so we booked a cabin to avoid losing the credit note balance [think we lost 24p or 42p in the end!]

The credit note issued in November 2021 was valid for 12 months

I was hoping to be able to give you 'chapter & verse' but I must have deleted some emails along the way!

Dull one mate, these fecking DVLA non producing jobsworth, aint worth pissing on!
 
Here is a thought and possible route and get your licence back quickly approach. Tell them you need license bask quicker than asap, as you are offering your services to drive and deliver humanitarian goods to Turkey. Be interesting to see if DVLA laid back approach would change?

I take your point, Gordon. Exercise is more to do with if there is any reason that would hurry these non producing jobsworths up?
 
could you not get someone to post your license to someone like pauljenny ? i came over without mine didn’t even have confirmation after returning it for wrong form , but it came through my daughter took it to a friends house who were coming out to villamoura 3 weeks after we came out! went over last week to collect it birthday next week

interesting solution, Ken.

Gordon, I note you deferred ferry crossing, I can speak with Bea and see about license posted to her addy in France?

Have you asked if anyone at DVLA wants your rear box and carrier you could kill two birds by delivering that and pick your license up at the same time 🤣
Cold and windy in Murcia so at least you might get some sun when you finally get away👍
 
Just to let you know mine is safe and sound in the scanner at home.
Oh the wonders of old age.
Luckily I've got a copy of it.😄
