What did you do to your van today?

Had the Van Converter's {Maxi Mover of Lincoln] Offside Door Mirror replaced and Mirror Protector refitted for 1 hour's labour + VAT. Fitter said the new mirror felt more robust than the genuine Fiat version, but driving into a headwind will test that theory ...

9 days until the timing belt, water pump and diesel filter are changed, and the bank balance lessened ...

Not today but Sunday we got back from our Westcoast & Skye adventure.
Leaving Applecross the van suffered from an intermittent sticky NSF brake so today ordered up new front pads as they were about 60% worn anyway before it started playing up.
Probably strip callipers tommorow to see what issue is but I think its a sticky piston from lack of use as it comes and goes.

It might be worth pricing up a new brake caliper? I had the same kind of problem with my old VW T4 and I found I could get a pair of new calipers for around the same price as a full brake service kit.
You wouldn't expect it to be the case but some parts can be had surprisingly cheaply.

Hi Wildbus.
Yeah it could be the case of replacing however I will pull it apart 1st and look.
It's done 30k and is 18yrs old and last 3k has been done by me in 10 months so its had a lot of sitting around.
I know the slides are ok as I serviced it when I got it last year so I reckon the piston is a bit gummy and needs removed and cleaned but if its corroded I will get a new / refurbed caliper.

Cheers Alistair.

18 years old? treat it to a new caliper :) 3K in 10 months is a fair amount in a Motorhome! I've probably done 3K in 3 years :(

I was going to refurb mine but when when found new ones at kit prices, very pleased I changed my mind

That's the rear ones in your photo, I wouldn't bother trying to refurb them as theres to many parts that rust and stick.
My calipers are not rusty at all as Moho was from Londonshire and I dont think by looks of chassis it has seen a winter.
I'll pop the cylinder and see, wont need a refurb kit to do that.

Not exactly on the van but assembled a Fogstar battery kit...they say must be top balanced before assembly but all cells were at same voltage so just assembled it....surprised at the quality 5*.£349 for 315ah with 200a Bluetooth BMS and 2a active balancer in a case that could double as a shipping container

Took the motorhome to the local weighbridge. Not had it weighed since 2006, and, having made several changes, over the years, decided that it was time for another check. It weighed 3400kgs, so still has 100kgs to spare. The fuel tank was about 2 thirds full, and enough fresh water for 3 days, both of us onboard, so not too bad.

Very surprised at this bill ,the van is in impeccable condition condition but as you say idle don't suit things esp damp
Hope you are doing ok
Strange times my friend
