Easiest fix ever.

Replaced the seven year old Fire angel carbon monoxide detector with a new model. It's a different shape, but thoughtfully, the two screw holes have identical spacing.

The only time you would need a pump is if you are trying to fill a tank with a 25L container which would be too heavy to lift.
Makes far more sense to either fill up from a tap point before you set up on your pitch instead of faffing around with containers and collaspable trolleys. What a pain that is! If you need more water, just drive to the tap and fill your tank instead of going back and forth with small containers (and 25L is a small container compared to a fresh water tank).

I have never had to fill the water tank except from a hose in many decades of motorhoming (of course it's now called 'vanlife'). In the boot there's a hose reel with a long hose, but usually I just use the shrinking wrinkly hose to fill up.

FWIW, a solution I've found is borrowed from aviation -- check lists. I have one to complete before driving off and one to complete before leaving the van in storage. Takes less than a minute plus any time necessary to do things that weren't done and no longer do I suffer the contents of cupboards, the fridge, etc. ending up where they're not meant to be. No longer do I flatten the cranking battery by forgetting to turn off the rear view camera, etc.

When showering yesterday morning Jeff sitting outside noticed water leaking either side of the wheel arch!, by eliminating waste and standing pressure realised that the leak was only when tap in use , first thing this morning we set about removing the shower panel quickly realised that we could swing it out about 9” on the door side but no more , there was a 6” sq window we could see the tap through but could not access the pipe fittings we extended the window by cutting another 18” out of it and could see one tap connection further out than others so removed the whole tap , replacing and reselling took about 5 mins getting the b****y thing out 2 hours all in and bone dry now just sitting sweating in 35.5deg

Replaced diesel heater exhaust hanger which I noticed was broken today. All bolts loosened without shearing/stripping. New bracket fashioned from stores. 20 mins and job done.

We decided to Dip our Toes in Steve , were on a site on outskirts of St Malo tonight booked through CMHC while we decide where to go " le de Huchet" or somat like that. Got 3 nts booked on iL De Re in a couple of days then don't know where. Just staying in Brittany for 2 weeks.

I did try tags at one time, but a couple soon went missing and I ended up driving off with the step still out! I now consciously touch each item on the check list or at least ensure I've looked. The check list to be completed before driving off is left in front of the instrument cluster (and so has to be acknowledged before driving) and placing it there is an item on the storage list, which is a laminated fob on the ignition key ring...

I find it much easier to collect 25 ltrs of water than take the awning tie down straps off wind the awning in drive to a tap get the hose out fill the tank put the hose away and drive back re erect the awning especially if we're leaving the next morning .If you have not seen people filling tanks with watering cans and similar I certainly have ( at most of the rally's we've been too.25ltrs will last us around 36 hrs( including showers.

Not saying I haven't seen people wandering around with water containers, I am saying it is not something I do.
I just fill up my fresh water tank to start with. Job done. In your usage example, that would last me a week without having to refill.

In my last van, I had a pair of 20L containers for fresh water and would take the container itself to refill (as opposed to taking a container to fill the container ) . But undertank refill? never never ever thanks

It gives me the chance to wander over to a tap and have a natter with other folk to see what's occurring. Possibly two cans a day, with a top up for the night/morning, and left in front of the passenger seat overnight. (It lives empty in the loo when travelling.)

I'm not keen on plastic bottles of water, probably because PVCs don't have too much spare space.

I never thought of taking a watering can with me but it might be handy because at least if water is nowhere nr pitch as it often is I dont need to move van if its getting low.

Many years ago I almost forgot to disconnect my power hookup, and was so shocked at my stupidity that since that day I always walk around the van before setting off, and finish off by having a look underneath.
