What did you do to your van today?

Just finished two jobs on the van. One was done the first time two years ago and needed redoing again (Headlights!) and the other was one that I meant to do when I first got the van but never go round to it :rolleyes:

I'll post a Before and After showing them both. Who will spot the 2nd job?

Painted wiper arms - I did mine in June along with resticking loose scuttle.
Since then the windscreen has developed a crack 🙈.
Nice job ,makes big difference 👏

I use an industrial HAN 10 pin 16A connector as EHU plug. There is a little jumper on 2 pins that signals tha the plug is inserted. When I switch on the ignition, even if there's no power on, there is a loud buzzing warning. The same happens if for some reason the automatic step didn't close.

Good idea. I've been in a couple of campers that have a warning buzzer when hooked up if ignition on and quite liked that idea so I built a circuit to do the same.
Maybe bit over the top, but because I have a Victron Cerbo fitted, I could use the Node Red feature to setup a programmable relay to drive a buzzer when it detects AC in, but only when the Ignition is on.
Not as precise as yours as if there is no live AC the buzzer will not be live even if EHU lead is plugged in, but on the flip side I can use the same feed to have a AC socket that I can chose to be active only on live EHU if I want (useful for an AC Heater).

I should add that with the EHU inlet where it is on my Motorhome, it is extremely unlikely I will drive away with the lead still plugged in (unlke my previous campervan! :D )

I rarely use the EHU since my solar is enough for my daily needs. It has an automatic changeover contactor that will seamlessly disconnect the inverter power from the internal sockets and continue to feed all the existing loads. The only exception is that it will also connect the onboard 12V charger which has a switch to choose between the engine or camper battery. This is mostly the use for the EHU connection. When I power down the van for storage, the load on the camper battery is completely disconnected with the exception of the battery monitor. Since the van is parked under a roof, the solar won't work. I occasionally connect the charger to keep the engine battery full.

On the indicator stalk of my van there ae several coloured velcro cable ties.
If something is 'set' its cable tie goes round the rim of the steering wheel.
Yellow for an open window.
Black for mains hookup
Green for external solar panel
Blue for extended 4G antenna pole
Red for something else (usually laundry)
Works for me.
 
Discovered a very slow way to fill the water tank in the Motorhome on Thursday evening....

Took ages to get 48 Litres of bottled water in there with a funnel! (lots of the bottles not in the photo!)
But needs must and I managed to get a shower that night 🚿

It's people like that get us a bad name, leaving all those bottles just strewn on the ground.😆😅🤣🤣
I hope you had a wonderful shower.
We did a similar thing in Germany the difference is they have a Phand tax, so we took them back and got our money back.

It reminded me of when I used to run my VW T4 Camper on Rapeseed Oil. Used to go to Bookers C&C, got 4 or 5 cases of 1L bottles and filled the tank in the car park and took the empties round the back to their skip :D

It was good value - free bottles due to water cut (y) Decided best use of water as needed a proper wash and the shower water would go to grey tank and could use that to flush the loos in the house

I have a little pump and in an emergency, I can buy 5 or 7 liter jugs or use a collapsible jerrycan . I don't have a filler cap, instead, I use a hose on a reel connected permanently to the tank. I just unreel just enough of the 10 meter long hose and connect to the tap or pump in case of an emergency.

I've never used our moho shower, to scared incase it runs out of water halfway through, or worse still something goes wrong and the van gets flooded out.
Everything else in the van sofar has been knackered so this would just be the next problem.

We have 2 showers😄 one inside and the other, outside. This is the one we use during the summer. I use a curtain with a rod in between the 2 open back doors for privacy. The one inside doesn't use a curtain as the whole bathroom is waterproof. I just wipe the walls with a microfibre towel after use.
