we’re 3 days in front of lee though the way he drives he might catch me🤪😘🤭 may go same route though last year it was so pleasant in northern central spain 12 13 degrees we bumbled straight down from burgos toledo cordoba etc jeff was 10 days behind us & he was in minus 5 , first target is Punta Umbria whether that takes one week or two depends on the weather,

I've been going through France, and into Spain via Perpignan, then following the coast line of Spain, until Seville, then into Portugal.
Yes it's the long way round. But it stays warmer for longer :)
Although this year, as I'll not be able to leave until February, I may go via Irun / Salamanca.

Just remember when you're travelling distances every day the outside temperature isn't that important.
Unless we meet snow, I hope to nake Seville in 3 to 4 days.

We're flying to Spain to housesit on 6th Jan until 4th Feb, daughter visiting from California has messed up us going in the motorhome - she'll not do it again :ROFLMAO: . We will be near huércal-Overa inland between Águilas and Vera we'll have the house owners' car to use so if anyone in that area we would love to meet up

we stopped going that way through Barcelona years a go when they was scammers trying to pull you up on the pretence that there was something wrong with your m/h so while you got out others in the car would rob what they could . so going down to ether Spain or Portugal we pass burgos & coming back we go through the somport tunnel ( chain needed by law ) as one of the mountain roads

The danger of robbery. Is this an actual experience or anecdotal ?
I'm not saying this doesn't happen. But a lot of these stories are, a bloke down the pub, has a friend, who met someone, who knew someone who had been robbed.

We were staying at a campsite south of Barcelona some years ago when a couple pulled in next to us. They had been robbed on the motorway around Barcelona. A posh car (possibly a merc) had indicated to them that there was something wrong with their van. This car drove on without stopping. Shortly afterwards another posh car indicated the same. The couple stopped on the hard shoulder as did this car. One of the very well dressed but non English speaking went and looked under the van. He indicated that he had fixed the problem. Drove off. That's when the lady realised that her handbag had gone. She told me "everything was in it. Passports, reg docs, money, cards". She was distraught.
That's why everything needs to be split up and hidden. Very little that can be stolen.

All it is costing us is the flight - very cheap at that - and our food! We look after the house and dog, and the owners are kindly letting us use their car as the house is in the sticks.

Could have been worse: could have been gassed in their sleep! ;)

That's what the bloke down the pub said, that he had a friend, who met someone, who knew someone, who had gassed someone.
Baked beans do it every time. Sprouts are a reliable alternative.
