Cleaning out the tank and pipes.

Recently made the mistake of using citric acid to clean my system, followed the advice of concentration etc and then very thoroughly flushed the system out, was quite shocked by the amount of black bits and scale that came out, anyway after that refilled with fresh and a few days later went away for a short break, second day away the kitchen tap started to leak, first just a drip from the spout followed by one from the main body followed quite quickly by the shower mixer.
To cut a frustrating and annoying story short the outcome was ā‚¬235 later and two replacement Reich taps no more leaks and definitely never use citric acid again.
The reason for two new taps was that for both units the ceramic cartridges were no longer available for them and despite there being hundreds of cartridges available none that fitted the taps, annoying as the van is 2015.
I did a bit of research and found a few reports of similar problems by others

you have to watch what you put in your tanks fresh or grey because of your tank's sender unit's & if you have tank heater's fitted because some products can damage them & your boiler as well . before our 7 m/h's we had 4 caravans & before that we had a canal cruiser which someone had put Milton in the fresh water also it stink's plus once its been put in it blend's with the plastic so you cant get rid .we did then & now use bottle water for drinking & making tea with & don't use anything in the fresh water tank we just empty the system every time we come home or if park up for 2 months on a site we change the water because just topping up there is always water that's been in for months . cheyenne
