Do you wave?

My wife always waves, and it always makes me smile. Anyone that has visited Westray will know that all drivers and passengers here wave at everyone, even pedestrians, it's a very friendly island.

It makes me smile because her reflexes are very slow and, although she always waves, the other part would never see it as they are long gone!

P.S. Good job she doesn't read this forum.

I always wave at other motorhomes I see on the road, do you?
Never. Too busy watching what the traffic is doing. I think it is too easy to get distracted. Also most of the time I do not even recognise the oncoming vehicles type as that is not important information for me to know.

I think people wave at me not because they like motorhomes but because they like Zebras

We always wave. Both of us, i.e. the driver and his better half
Love it when people wave back. Sometimes it's very enthusiastic, which makes our day. Sometimes it's barely perceptible but still that expresses the joie de vivre of being in a motorhome and recognising fellow lucky sods!!

VWs never wave back. Hymers usually never do either.

We too often make the mistake of waving at Tesco vans and other assorted vans (me in particular). And I have a hell of a job to stop once I get back in my car. So if you see a deranged woman waving at you when you're in your motorhome, you'll know why. We loved it Ireland this year when lots of car-drivers waved at us (in a friendly way, not in a 'what are you doing on this really narrow dirt-track in your *!**!! stupid big vehicle' way).

If they wave at me yes.
It doesn't happen very often. I guess they think I'm a Tesco van.

sometimes i wave, depends what mood i'm in but like said before why people wave on the other side of dual carriageway
But why is it when motor homes are parked up & occupants are sitting in the mh front seats they don't wave, anyone else notice this?I pulled up in a carpark at gosport, woman sitting in her hab door entrance on the step,i put my hand up completely ignored us,Also when parked on the side of the road at whitby facing oncoming traffic they drive by glaring no smiles no waves.......o_O

We waved back for about 40 years in them days there were not so many vans about and it was a novelty to see another. Three years ago we down sized to a van conversion, apart from the obvious advantages ( get into car parks ) we do not have to wave .

I love to wave!! As others have said Tesco’s & delivery vans a speciality? return waves are variable but it’s as much about my enjoyment as theirs & when I’m the passenger I can be very enthusiastic!!lol?????

Yup, always wave, not on Mways tho.
Oops, that was a Tesco van. Ah well, hello anyway pal, have a lovely day.

Yep I wave, when I am not negotiating windy roads or other obstacles. (Eg traffic). Trouble is when I am driving the car I also forget what I am driving and have an inclination to wave... Most times I do realise & change direction of my hand to scratch my head or chin so it doesn't look to obvious.

We always wave except on motorways and fast dual carriegeways and get about 3/4s returns. But the VW campervans and the many of the panel vans do not respond, still never mind eh, it wont stop us waving.(y)

Sometimes I wave a fist. But then I'm antisocial.

We lived full time in an old large Ducato 26/27 years ago & always waved. Just about everyone waved back, but now lots of folk don't bother to respond. Shame really. I find it brightens my day if someone smiles & waves.

As previously mentioned, as a biker we always acknowledge each other, but normally a simple nod of the head. When first got our moho I was informed that it's the custom with moho's to always wave to each other, no matter where. Having had the moho just over 3 years now and travelled quite a bit in the UK and Europe, we've found that 10/15% wave back, and most of those are on small country road/lanes, so I only bother now on the smaller road/lanes
