France 2023 tour.

Very old [non PC] joke from almost 50 years ago:

Q. Harold Wilson, Jeremy Thorpe and William the Conqueror; which one is the odd one out?

A: Harold Wilson. The other two were both effin Normans ...

Trip on hold for a further five days, had pooch at the vet at 8.30 this morning where a minor op required, not long returned back home with a not happy pooch. Stitches out in five day.

Pooch not happy with lampshade around his neck, an innovative use of my boxers to keep him away from his tail, so far so good, he is working on a way to get past the boxers, though! 😂17136C8F-249A-401F-9093-FA498ED74C42.jpeg

Good planning!
Your Manager packed a posh pair of underpants, in case you had to go into hospital.
You'll have to very careful that you don't fall over or get a suspicious rash.
Look both ways before crossing the road.
At least until the pooch gets better. 😁

Pauljenny, that pair are used to wipe condensation from MH windscreeen 👍🍷

Any members visited "The Bozouls Canyon". Looks impressive, any further info of what to see around this area?

Hi Terry,

I haven't visited that, but:

About 40km southwest of Bozouls, you have Sauveterre-de-Rouergue (one of the Plus Beaux Villages).

Depending on your route south, or when heading north later, you might consider:
  • Capdenac-le-Haut (another of the Plus Beaux Villages) and nearby Figeac
  • The Puy-de-Dome near Clermont-Ferrand - worth going to the top either on foot or using the rack railway. Wonderful landscape in that entire area with numerous extinct volcanoes.
Also worth checking for any other Plus Beaux Villages on or near your route.

We like to have a theme on our travels, although as I love boats and water it usually entails following canals. However last year the theme was Les Plus Beau Villages and we did loads of them but nowhere near all in the book so this years theme is already decided! Without any exceptions we loved every one of the villages we did last year.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your info, Bea has a relation near Clermont-Ferrand, who will take us to the city in their car, bonus. Puy-De-Dome, is on our list to must see. We will check out the other PBV's you mention, we also have a print out of PVB's to refer to.

Travel still on pause at this time, pooch managed to remove his bandaging and pulled out a stitch or three, more recovery time required, which would be more difficult touring in MH.........................cheers.

Yes free aire close by worth a look Also within a hr is Sainte-Eulalie de Olt a BVF
The AF is quite large but can be full at popular times. Street View is from 2012 and doesn't show the aire, but satellite view is OK and there are a few photos at https://www.campingcar-infos.com/view.php?id=29021
The pooch delaying you may not be such a bad thing looking at night-time temperatures in the Aveyron! I've managed to find one of the warmest places in France at the moment, in the Perpignan area. :)

Certainly a beezer last night, glad we were in the house. Looking at possibly Monday now as French Easter hols this weekend, roads will be busy. To stop boredom taking over, started painting rear of house. 😖

Popped into MH a few mins ago 28c bizarre weather! PM/AM image attached.

Report in June 2019 indicated that that one had closed. Street View from Sept 2021 does show a motorhome parked there, but there is no longer a service point at that location (now taken up with recycling bins).
