fridge cooling fans

Mine have been of two types both had a tab at the right side and either a tiny white button with a slot to turn it or similar that you had to slide, the sliding ones were better.

Sounds like Dometic both times?

The Thetford covers I have have two captive tabs inset on the top that you slide over to lock after putting the bottom of the cover in place.

been to the storage this morning temporally fixed the inside fan for the cooler fins as a trial when we go to south Germany to see how it performs . the fridge works great as a larder fridge but when we put the freezer together that leaves the one on its own which is still good but with some of the temps we have had like last year in Provence touching 39/40deg . parking your m/h with the fridge grills out of the sun help's hell of a lot or if you cant do that we just roll out the awning to cover the grills . i you look my fans are at the top because heat trapped in that small space behind the fridge is a killer that's why i & most fitters fit them at the top & just putting your hand at the top grill on a hot day you will feel the heat coming out & the cool air going in from the bottom if this inside fan help's in the hot weather i will fit it properly .its only for the summer time as easter & Spain's winter there is no problem cheyenne

I have a three speed computer fan installed on the the exhaust side of my Electrolux absorption fridge set up. But on a recent 4 week trip to the Netherlands, with ambient around 32 degrees cent, found fridge temps of 7 to10 degrees, especially if sun on rear of van of an afternoon.
So adopted the Heath Robinson approach of tie-wrapping the bike rack warning sign to the rear ladder to keep direct sun off the fridge area, and was happy to see the fridge temperature drop back to 3 degrees.

yes your right you need to keep the sun off the grill's because the idea of the fan's are to take the heat away from the back of the fridge & if you are parked with the sun on the grills the fans are just sucking in more hot air which defeats the object . that's why you have to put the fan's at the top grill's & the main problem with most leisure fridges & cool boxes is they are only suppose to be 16deg lower than the outside of the fridge .which i speaking from experience having left the winter grill covers on & for got to take them off so went on our first trip from from storage the fridge had been on for about 3 hours when i went in the fridge to check everything was ok & it was no colder so i thought the fridge was knickered on going outside to check burner was alight noticed the covers was still on & the top cover was about to melt took them off & the fridge started to cool . so that's what got me in to putting top fans in having heat trapped at the small area behind the fridge is a no good .cheyenne

hi guys . just finished fitting the inside fridge fan after temporally installed it turned out to be a success so fitted it properly & just finished the wife moaned about the wire going through the door BUT she was well impressed with they the performance here it is with or with out the freezer installed & i put the wire through the drain hole at the back with no restrictions & fitted 2 switches 1 for the inside fan & 1 for the 3 outside fans . cheyenne

Make sure that the drain hole isn't blocked and it should be okay.

I am only pleased I fitted a compressor fridge freezer over 10 years ago and not done anything since .
Same here ....

Removed the temperamental 3 way absorbtion one and replaced with a domestic 240v undercounter one ...

Result is a no pfaff painless fridge that runs 24/7 through summer without even thinking about ...

No fans when it's warm
No concern about levelling
No sooty flues
No blocked burner jets
No wind in wrong direction
Etc etc

yes , but .... just think how quiet forums would be if everyone did that :) the 3-Way Fridge users keep the web alive with all their trials and tribulations ;)

hi. the wire i used was super thin & the first thing we did was the wife poured water in the drain shelf & i was outside watching no problem otherwise i wouldn't have carried on with the job . as regards the comments about fridges a bit childish if you ask me but people with old knackered m/h's/campers & self build's like mine with a 3 way fridge it might do them some good but you cant please everybody all the time .cheyenne
