Gas hob yes or no

Why don’t you fit a calorifier to heat your water.?
I used to have a van with a calorific. It was imported from Australia, where that made sense, driving huge distances. But I rarely drive for much more than an hour or two at a time, and often stay in one area for several days, so it was pretty useless. The gas multipoint water heater was excellent though.

Going way off topic.
I’m watching a brit in Aus, building a Hiace 4x4 expedition truck. Using tech he’s gained from using a Troopy.
Andrew St Pierre White.

I’m particularly interested because the vehicle should come in under 3.5t. Then, when the lottery coughs up, I can have a 4x4 camper on my C license

I think you were joking about using gas locker for a genny Del but in case you weren't. You may find any sound inside the locker amplifies, I know I had this when I mounted a diesel heater fuel pump in mine. My gas locker is aplastic box with outside access if you remember, can't remember what yours is mad of an where, is it wood under the bed?

Storing in the locker would be fine, running maybe not

I had a couple of weeks in Somerset, Minehead mainly. The weather was okay, until the storm anyway. Little sun, so no solar. It was this trip that convinced me that I had to keep the LPG.
Believe me, I detest the stuff. Heating the van on diesel, doable. In winter, heating water for a shower? Cooking? Forget it. Even with my Victron Orion 50, I’d have to run the engine for a couple of hours every day, just to try and keep up.
Now if it wasn’t for the Schengen nonsense , I’d be fine in winter.
So really, it’s because of Brexit, I have to keep LPG 🙄
Edit. I only have a tiny Fogstar battery. Well under 560ah. I could find room for a second.😬😬
Stop moaning ya grumpy auld git. I have only had 2 x 100Ah lifepo4 the last 5 years and manage ok. Mind you, I only have coffee machine, air fryer, induction hob, remoska, slow cooker (I think) I just don't use them unless the sun is out.

No worries about running out of gas in the future, Calor already do Bio-Gas which goes straight into your system with absolutely no changes needed if set up for propane/lpg

That's good to know Neil.

Less of the grumpy.
I can happily say in all honesty, I wasn’t kidding about putting a generator in the gas locker. In the full knowledge that Nic would go berserk if I brought a genny.
That said, I could probably run it, with sufficient ventilation, in there without the fear of someone running off with it.

No I think the answer is , when there’s insufficient sun, either to cook on gas, or run the engine while cooking. Or eat out. Your place sounds good.👍
Spose Marocco could be an option when I’ve used up my ninety day Shengan limit .

Nobody would run off with it because you would only run for an hour while you were there. Best genny use is for topping up the battery bank not running other things

It's been good enough for most people for a very long time, most issues are easily fixed, where do you get an electric fridge fixed?
