Gas hob yes or no

My point was you cant fix it yourself like you can with a 3 way.

seriously, they really never break down.
The bits that you can fix on a 3-way you can't fix on a compressor frdge because they don't exist.
just about the only failure likely to happen is a leak of the refrigerant - and that is also just as likely as an ammonia leak on a 3-way.

We must just be unlucky, we've had 3 motors go on our homes ones in the last 18 years, and not old knackered ones, one was only two years old, probably modern ones not as robust.

I'm almost sure I read in a mag or a forum of someone converting a 3 way using a Danfoss or something.

Never had a motor go on our home fridge ever

I have to say our van fridge freeze won't work if it below 10 degrees in the van but when we are away it never is its only when it's standing at home .
I virtually never turn off the Vans Fridge/Freezer no matter the weather so will have been running at close to 0C ambient for sure sometimes. All that happens is if it gets very cold (ambient), the Fridge/Freezer runs a bit colder.

Not heard of that one Jeff, what brand is yours? Mine works so long as its turned on, temperature doesn't seem to affect it, only voltage

How do you know it is off Jeff, I only have a single light on the front of mine that's green for on and it went red when I ran battery too low. Is that how you know? If not I suppose mine could have gone off without me knowing?

Ah, so no indication on the fridge as it comes then? In that case I don't know if mine does the same or not lol

Mine is the MDC110 so may be an older model than yours anyway Jeff.

I don't like it warm when I am in bed so unless its really cold I will either have diesel heater off or set at lowest (4 degrees I think) which gies a room temp around 6 to 10 degrees. Whatever one does its been doing it since I got the van so can't be doing me any harm lol

Had a look at the manual and mine should work in ambient down to -10.
