Nature's Optical Tricks

last week we saw three baby deer on the side of the road, they scurried off back into the bushes as we got closer though.

quite exciting tess, have seen them a few times on my journey to work......(that was a good few years ago)......always memorable.

I walked past this lava rock, saw something amazing, took a photo - and when I looked up again I couldn't see anything interesting!

Please help me out here. It's driving me crazy.

I see a great big smiley face with mouth and eyes wide open, rocks for hair, large brow and lying against the huge round rock next to it. Could be singing, " I am a rock, I am an island" (Simon and Garfunkel)

Now that you say that .................................................. ..............I still can't see it!
Perhaps a member resting (sloping bottom right up to the left) resting on the large roundish stone?

More help please. Probably Freudian.

That wasn't what I saw at the time, teejay, but I can definitely see what you describe. It kind of jumped out at me as I read your description. Including arms by it's sides!
Thanks. Although that's probably not what I saw it works very well.

Another photo from a recent walk.
This rock is a little like a seat - and it's big enough for two people.
Can you see another object suggested by the shape of the rock?

Another great pic Colin! I see a man in a wingsuit having just landed awkwardly. It also reminds me of looking up at the underside of a sea turtle but the poor thing appears to either have lost his head or it is very stretched and twisted off and around to the right-the smaller rock on the right with the 'eye' in it and looking down!

You definitely have a well developed imagination too Colin!

pretty pictures, I can't say what I saw when I looked at the first rock picture... the mods would have to ban me
Not sure on the second one, but I bet Annie could make an awesome fire pit out of it.

It's a prehistoric dog that was fossilised whilst waiting for its belly to be tickled.

I can see the man in a wingsuit very clearly now you've described it, teejay. The turtle is less obvious for me.
My first thought was a bull's head complete with horns.

It's senility, by the way, not imagination on my part.

Perhaps you were thinking along the lines of the hint in post #67, Tes?

Definitely a fire pit for Annie.

Colin-we are all just a random stupid act away from senior moments as an ongoing situation, some have consequences, some don't. Senior and senile are very far apart although not grammatically, in reality they are. You may be senior but certainly not senile!
