Snowbirds 2025

we have finally stopped moving long enough to post progress , after we left the bodega at barbera de la conca we got to Amposta overnight at the marshland maeve went in the paddy fields & came out with black wellies, next day we went to a site just off the motorway that used to be a campsite behind a garage & restaurant there is a car wash and for €2 a van wash with gantry and footways the site is really peaceful and well laid out & free ! we are now at the aire at simat de la vallidigna which means worthy valley that is what the king said when giving it cictercian monks the monastery they built is now predominantly ruins though it remains impressive and the entrance cupola and chapel are magnificent

I have to say we have been on the Costa Blanca coast since 10th January and the weather has not been as good as the last couple of years here, especially the last week, temperatures have dropped, cold winds and even some rain. Hopefully it will improve, it was in the early 20s when we first arrived here.

But we are spoilt around Quesada for the amount of restaurants around us, we love the Menu Del Dai for around €12 each, eaten at different restaurants every day. There is quite a large contingent of British in this region, including some of my family members, so the bars cater for us, we even won €450 playing music bingo last week at Cooper's bar. Don't think the locals were impressed though.🤭

We are staying on a lovely small site that has plenty of space around us, surrounded by lemon and orange groves near Los Montesinos but they only allow 4 motorhomes to stay at a times, we saw it last year and I booked for a month at a cost of €16 a night including 6 amp electric.
They have put the cost up now for this year of between 25 to 30 euros a night, but as soon as anyone leaves a new van arrives to take it's place, no shortage of takers it seems, it's like a boutique site, each motorhome space has its own decking, we have a large terrace and swimming pool, the Dutch owners are adding a hot tub and sauna for next year. Unfortunately for some reason I can't post photos, don't know if my photos are to big of a file and no idea how to make them smaller.

Taken some photos on my tablet of where we are staying, I've been the only person from the UK staying here, the vast majority have been from Holland, Belgium and Germany, but they have all been extremely friendly and have been able to speak with us in English. The people who own the place are from Holland, they live I'm the Villa which also has bedrooms to let and a couple of apartments in the main house, my wife's sister came to stay in one of the apartments at £75.00 a night. The host invited us to a 3 course meal she had made, so she fed 10 of us. She is a very good cook.

Had to move off the Moncofa Aire after reaching the limit allowed for stays; so followed everyone else and parked on the streets outside abandoned new builds ... It's actually about 300m closer to the Consum supermarket. Just need to pop back on to the Aire to empty the cassette and grey water and top up the fresh water, as everyone else does ... :ROFLMAO:
