Snowbirds 2025

Sorry - missed your post 😱. On our way to Seville now for a couple of days but will probably get back to the Algarve by the weekend as have to see family in Almancil.
We are starting the slow trek north today 😿now the weather has changed for the better 😹. We did a house sit in Almamcil September before last, nice little town.

Apartment blocks for storks, one of several along the road still with some available units. Now at Lagoa Formosa on a 5 bay aire with services incl free electric. It’s just south of Comporta, Portugal’s answer for Sandbanks. Going to explore beach and town tomorrow.IMG_4868.jpeg

Glad to hear you're both in good shape.
Comporta ..?
Free electric..?

You youngsters are spoiled rotten.
You should ask us and @nbrown to tell you how it was like , last century..
Safe travels.
Xx

Howdy all. Quick update. We have been having a wonderful time since leaving Pontevedra. The weather has been pretty kind to us - only drenched twice 🤪.
READ QUICKLY...it'll soon be over 🤷🏼‍♀️😂
We drove on to:
FOZ: Lovely grass motorhome park up, right on the edge of the river Foz, which flows into the harbour, and the sea is just around the corner. Smuj was in his element again 🐾🐶. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Free for overnight parking, plus fill and dump.
GIJÓN: - motorhome parkup for the night on the outskirts of this large coastal city in Northern Spain. We weren't expecting much, but it was a lovely little surprise. Again, it was free to park and stay overnight and use the fill and dump facilities.
Also ..... lucky for Smuj ... there was a little beach area for frolicking 🐾🐶
The Aire is next to a grassy roundabout on a main road and also a railway line. So, it is a bit noisy, which would be a minus point for some, but it really didn't bother us at all.
SANTANDER: Yet another free motorhome aire (including fill and dump facilities) ... WIN WIN 🤪
So many iconic buildings, quirky apartments, lovely beaches, peurto, marina, statues ... the list goes on. We did some smashing walks, VERY uphill and down dale, soaking in as much of this delightful city as we could.
VITORIA-GASTEIZ: Again, a free motorhome aire with free fill and dump - around the corner from the vet .... Smuj now has his own European passport. No need now to buy an AHC every time we want to take Smuj abroad.
We hopped on a tram (not necessary, but a new experience for Smuj 🐾) into the city.
Pleasantly surprised by this vast city. We found the beautiful old city walls and some of the many lovely historical buildings (with the help of Google maps 🤪).
Oh, and Smuj found an outdoor travelator!! Within walking distance is the Centro Commercial, which is a huge, plush shopping centre - well worth a visit.
Another plus .... food and drinks are super cheap compared to other parts of Spain - even in the commercial centre.😜
ZIERBENA: a couple of nights in a free car park ... before boarding the ferry at Bilbao Ferry Port (literally just around the corner).
Lovely village surrounding the harbour. Great for frolics with your dog (or partner 😀).

Today, after 82 wonderful days in the schengen area we are in Ireland. We've had a 30 hour trip in a Brittany Ferry pet cabin to Rosslare and plan to Fijitabout exploring for a few weeks. Long story - easy decision!!! Bit chilly but sun is forecasted for later!!!

Our adventure buddy loved his first trip on a ferry. We are feeling so lucky 💓🐾🐶

Lots of outstanding laundry ..... first stop is at Castlebridge (£10 per night in an honesty box). It has laundry facilities, and a pub next door ..... SORTED !!

Hope everyone is well ..... see you soon. 👋💚

Last night at Alcutim. Free Aire with power, toilets and showers. Pretty little town with a few bars/restaurants and a ferry across the river to Spain. Takes 1hr 5 mins to cross but gets back 55 mins before you leave (ish - time zone change 😱). If you want a quick way back you can take the zip wire !! All in all a place worth a visit.
Also met with Dave and Rhona 👌😁.

be along tomorrow lunchtime presently at monte gordo
