Howdy all. Quick update. We have been having a wonderful time since leaving Pontevedra. The weather has been pretty kind to us - only drenched twice

.
READ QUICKLY...it'll soon be over

We drove on to:
FOZ: Lovely grass motorhome park up, right on the edge of the river Foz, which flows into the harbour, and the sea is just around the corner. Smuj was in his element again

. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Free for overnight parking, plus fill and dump.
GIJÓN: - motorhome parkup for the night on the outskirts of this large coastal city in Northern Spain. We weren't expecting much, but it was a lovely little surprise. Again, it was free to park and stay overnight and use the fill and dump facilities.
Also ..... lucky for Smuj ... there was a little beach area for frolicking

The Aire is next to a grassy roundabout on a main road and also a railway line. So, it is a bit noisy, which would be a minus point for some, but it really didn't bother us at all.
SANTANDER: Yet another free motorhome aire (including fill and dump facilities) ... WIN WIN

So many iconic buildings, quirky apartments, lovely beaches, peurto, marina, statues ... the list goes on. We did some smashing walks, VERY uphill and down dale, soaking in as much of this delightful city as we could.
VITORIA-GASTEIZ: Again, a free motorhome aire with free fill and dump - around the corner from the vet .... Smuj now has his own European passport. No need now to buy an AHC every time we want to take Smuj abroad.
We hopped on a tram (not necessary, but a new experience for Smuj

) into the city.
Pleasantly surprised by this vast city. We found the beautiful old city walls and some of the many lovely historical buildings (with the help of Google maps

).
Oh, and Smuj found an outdoor travelator!! Within walking distance is the Centro Commercial, which is a huge, plush shopping centre - well worth a visit.
Another plus .... food and drinks are super cheap compared to other parts of Spain - even in the commercial centre.

ZIERBENA: a couple of nights in a free car park ... before boarding the ferry at Bilbao Ferry Port (literally just around the corner).
Lovely village surrounding the harbour. Great for frolics with your dog (or partner

).
Today, after 82 wonderful days in the schengen area we are in Ireland. We've had a 30 hour trip in a Brittany Ferry pet cabin to Rosslare and plan to Fijitabout exploring for a few weeks. Long story - easy decision!!! Bit chilly but sun is forecasted for later!!!
Our adventure buddy loved his first trip on a ferry. We are feeling so lucky

Lots of outstanding laundry ..... first stop is at Castlebridge (£10 per night in an honesty box). It has laundry facilities, and a pub next door ..... SORTED !!
Hope everyone is well ..... see you soon.
