Thoughts whilst driving in France

After yesterday’s failed attempt to walk up a ski slope. Decided that the best way to get a bit of exercise was to walk the lanes. Working on the theory that I can walk at about 3 miles an hour. I did a little over 2 hours. So 6 miles ish, or 15 kms?🙄 Walking here in fresh mountain air is brilliant.

To think this is the country my MIL came from. Unusually, I’ve found that I do like it here. Who would have thought it. I might try to learn a bit more French. Bon jour, mon petit pour du bois. Fluid or what 😎

Poor Demi is starting to show her age. A couple of the Roller blinds are going to need a bit of attention. The sliding door, insulating blind material has torn along the top edge It’s something I’ve had to repair on another window. I’ll do it at home later. I’ll have to remember to close the loo door to save foreign sensitivities.

A tad short of 15kms (pedant alert)

A chilly night. Extra blankets put on the bed. 🥶
Was this because of the reflective curtain failure?
OR because of the thick damp mist I woke up to? 😬

My short term plan is, a tea overdose 🫖

Yes I did exaggerate. Nearer 14.5 kms? 🤓This morning’s walk is going to be a bit chilly. Sweat shirt, possibly long trousers for the first time for ages.
Moving on later today.

Chilly here also Derek, but it has given 22 degrees and sunny, so will put a jumper on for a hour, still just north of le mans, lovely aire all to ourselves, so why bother moving, maybe a walk to the laundrette later or maybe not 🤔🌞🌞

I'm 73 and I walk at 2.5 mph according to my walking app? So in 2hrs I do about 5 miles or about 8km....except my hips tell me at 5km they've had enough!
I also use a walk app. It confirms that my usual walking speed is, depending on the incline , is a little over 3mph.
Well done to you by walking through the hip pain. With me, it’s knees. One replaced, the other, please 😕
BUT, I don’t try to keep up this pace, it’s all about keeping this much abused body active. ‘Spose health is about, use it or lose it.
Now, all that was all a bit profound for me

By the time I’d sorted out a pair of trousers, the sun had come out 😀 Back into shorts, the fleece didn’t stay on long either.
I put the location of an aire into Sally the sat nag this morning. In Allemond. It was just a car parking space. Moved further into the village and I’ve parked outside the Mairie, I’ll move if asked. I remember reading somewhere, sometime ago that it was okay to do that.
I had a short walk before lunch, now for the real thing 😳 Alpine walking, who would have thought it 😬

ALPINE WALKING.
Returned to Demi after an invigorating 30 km hike😬😬😬😬
I wish. Barely a kilometre. This 75 year old frame, might be okay for gently rolling countryside, Alpine paths, at 20+degree’s gradient. Not a chance, I’ve sadly got to admit. Passed it.
Should’ve done this over fifty years ago. You know, when I was young and stupid, unlike now.
Part of that sentence has remained with me.
A Bedford Doormoble, paraffin stove, ex army blankets and lithium batteries
Pre responsibilities.
I’ll have to be content with the views . Stunning init.

They would be if we got to see them.😜

We have been on a 10 km walk through the lovely countryside, we have walked past ponds and lakes through orchards with all kinds of different types of apples falling off, collected some wild chestnuts and brought some local cider, now back at the aire sat outside and enjoying the evening sunshine, as Derek says, stunning init ☀️☀️👌16965198937555839192652115157245.jpg

I was told that my first hip replacement would last 10-15 years. That was 13 yrs 8 months ago, the hip strength/flexibility is reducing rapidly and it has begun to make grinding/creaking noises, suggesting that either/both the socket and/or ball joint are buggered. The left hip was replaced in 2016, so I hope that a 2nd new right hip will be available next year. I would grovel to the Doc, but I wouldn't be able to get back up again ...:ROFLMAO:

But we don't mind, always something to learn 👍👍
But, as I get older and the memory capacity reduces, I'm never sure whether I've learned something new, or merely forgotten that I already knew it, but had forgotten until today's reminder ... Small wonder we become confused, and that's before I look in the Shaving Mirror and ask if I can help me ... 'Metaphor' definition has changed now to 'I know your face from somewhere. just can't remember where' ...:ROFLMAO:
