Weather Report..................

A few years back the council closed the road for a month as the gritter drivers refused to go over it after a gritter slipped and overturned. The driver jumped out, broke his ankle and had to be taken off by helicopter! I’m not sure that the car in my photo above is really meant to be parked there either!
I think you’re right about that car!
We set of over that road on our first day of honeymoon. My Citroen GS had a blowing exhaust manifold which meant windows open and heads out when possible. Still felt rather ill after an hour or so. Those were the days 😀

Some of the stories I could tell about that road Bill. Strachan used to have a village BBQ every year in Fettercairn which involved going over the Cairn. We used the old school bus and I recall once it couldn’t get up in first gear so the driver turned it round and reversed up!
Best for me is on a warm day if I drive carefully up and let full regeneration braking slow me down the other side in the EV I can get to Fettercairn and back (30 mile round trip) with the battery losing less than 5 miles.

Susie’s Dad designed the restaurant at Clatterin‘ Brig.

That's s co-incidence, as it snowed over the Quantocks on our wedding day.

What was embarrassing was that the Hotel I pulled in to was owned by a family who had previously been neighbours, and recognised my name. They'd also spotted our brand new rings, and I couldn't get upstairs quick enough. 🤭

Aah, the newly wed who couldn't get upstairs quickly enough, claiming it's because he knew the hotel owners ... 5 years later and the same person says to his wife, 'You pop upstairs, love; I'll just have a wee catch up natter with the owners, they were neighbours of mine before I met you ...'

And 5 years later, 'Do you mind love, if I have a couple of drinks with the owners, to catch up on old times. You remember, I told you we used to be neighbours? You can manage the bags, can't you?' :D

And 5 years later, you suggest that your beloved goes ahead upstairs whilst you check whether it's been 3 hours yet since you took the tablet ... :sneaky:

There's a David Attenborough voiceover running through my head now, 'And the male of the species, meanwhile ....' 🤣

Windy and showery day. 43 mph gusts for now but up to 60 mph later. A rehearsal for the bigger storm with snow to come on Friday. 💨⛅🌧

We normally have a month in Palm Desert about now, missing it this year but a quick check shows it’s warming up nicely. Next year perhaps.

Freshening up as the storm builds; we noticed the increased wind speed on the return leg in the 45 mins or so round trip to 'Click & Collect' the weekly shopping this morning. 8 degrees and bright sunshine but the wind chill removes the warmth [unless you're indoors, looking out at the scenery ...]

4 degrees in bright, if watery sunshine, but the rain is just starting to test its sprinklers, and the wind is beginning to stir. Remarkable change as I was typing the first sentence. Weather equivalent of needing another shilling in the meter!
