What did you do to your van today?

Use a marine tank, cost £70/150 for 2 pipe, a filler connection can be sorted to it with hose as in boats.

Yesterday I took ours into the dealers to have its roof leak investigated. Whilst in it will get an MOT.
 
I’ve had a problem with some of my led down lighters not working for a couple of years now work sometimes then flicking and stuff. could not find exact replacements anywhere . And the only way to get the lights out without damaging the veneer on the crap wood they are fitted in is too destroy the light itself. Taking out the glass removing the led fitting then drilling the rivet that holds the metal spring thing that holds them in place. so I decided to replace the lot 20 and that’s just the front.. After I took a few down I started noticing that the connection blocks that were connected were crap and not getting a good tight grip of wire in fact some were slightly open. Pity because that seems to have been the problem all along but you can’t change to the block without destroying the light. I’ve changed all the fancy modern connections too the old school screw type. All working perfect now. The new lights i got from vanwurks they are touchable on of as we’ll.

Our roof leak has been identified as a leak coming from the porch/awning light...so that's a relief as I feared a roof leak.
 
Filling up with water and provisions and will head out tomoss to Cumbria.
Determined to be away from the dreaded fireworks Friday as my dog gets in a right frenzy.

you are removing the WAGO connectors and fitting the white screw-down teminals?
Interesting as those wagos are generally much better and many installers are switching to that type universally in both vehicles and buildings. I use them myself rather than the screwdown types.
When you said "some were slightly open", do you mean the lever was not hard down? If so, that is totally normal - the cable is only released from the clamp when the lever is all the way up. The lever moving about loosely when flat does not move the connection clamp at all.
You'll need to very careful with the screw-down ones - lighting wire strands tend to be very thin and it is very easy to get them misligned with the screw-down connectors or even cut through the strands with the screw! (I know I won't be changing back to them :( ). Soldering would be preferable!
 
Thanks Bill but the ones that were fitted were definitely the problem all I know is that some were not closed right either they were faulty or not fitted correctly which is what I suspect but I wasn’t taking the chance in using them again took my time in fitting the small blocks doubling over wire and checked each light individualy. I’m just happier that I can see they are connected right I taped over each block. I’m no Electricion but I done the best I could with the knowledge I have. 👍

I've just finished changing the oven in the van.
Sometime ago we discovered that it would only get to about 120c, after much checking I determined that the thermostat was faulty and after searching the internet, I could find a replacement, please don't tell me where I can get one now.
So it was decided to get a new oven, a Thetford, the replacement model fir the old one. It was ordered from Jackson's and I was pleasantly surprised to recieve it two days later.
After a few modifications its fitted and Mrs B is delighted, now we can have pies, roasts and the like.
If anyone needs some spare for Cramer CMBOGB oven get in touch.
 
I’m getting through a snagging list of wee jobs needing done some for a long time in fact some of them are things that should have been done under warranty but the dealer was as good as a chocolate fire guard. Van is nearly 5 years old so looking at the bigger picture a few new lights and a wee tweak here and there it’s not that bad really and I’m enjoying taking my time fixing stuff. Four and half year’s where did the time go must have been enjoying myself.
