I've seen a solder iron used with bent weld wire or paper clips used zig Zag pattern heated with the iron then melted into the plastic giving a firm weld.Painted rear corner trims this afternoon.
They were pretty badly damaged and had previous owner bodges.
I managed to melt all broken bits and cracks back together then put a single sheet of fibreglass and resin behind effected area for strength, after which I skimmed the area on view and surprisingly they came out 100% ok .
Just aswell really as new ones are £380 per side
Ready to fit with new fog lamp inserts tommorow.

Some plastics melt well, some dont. These melted really well - usually if you give it plenty of heat and in effect stir the 2 joins together on both sides its quite effective.I've seen a solder iron used with bent weld wire or paper clips used zig Zag pattern heated with the iron then melted into the plastic giving a firm weld.
I have a broken back bumper/valance, Merl and I looked at it last week but it had been repaired before and the staples had gone rusty so I need to sort it out later, I had already bought this to do the job, you can get cheaper but this is quite a good kit.Painted rear corner trims this afternoon.

Quite funny in the description - I think if I turned up with a repaired hard hat I would be thrown off boatI have a broken back bumper/valance, Merl and I looked at it last week but it had been repaired before and the staples had gone rusty so I need to sort it out later, I had already bought this to do the job, you can get cheaper but this is quite a good kit.
once again a superb job well done .Not bonded on yet or any silicone round edges but flattened paint & clean body ready to fit tommorow. Slightly lighter shade of grey but much better than previous and now there undamaged, makes whole motorhome less DIY/rough looking.

I've probably about 6 hrs on the corner trims, but the whole motorhome I would guess a full 4 weeks if your counting 8am to 5pm, although its difficult to say as I've been doing days here and days there when I've been able to for past 7 months since purchasing. Two tone its the rage!
