What did you do to your van today?

van arrived back at my house yesterday............setting up awing frame in back garden.........no room at the front...........
wanting ti get canvas on frame...however....light shower stopped play.......dont want to get canvas wet then have the bother of getting it dried out,,,,,,,,,,
looks as tho it will fit van.....need to sort out some guy ropes and pegs..........then thinking of where we can take it all ...to offer up awning to van..........happy days......

Changed oil and oil Filter air filter diesel filter proper synthetic oil? done out of boredom but satisfying knowing I done it myself you get to learn where things are messing around.

Got rid of all the dust on and in the van from the aire at Chateau du Chambord.

It's probably the worst one we ever been to and more than likely down to the ridiculously hot spell they are having.

Having changed the Trauma water heater at Angelsey after the old one failed at Rutland, I checked the new one worked on 240v and it does.
A successful job and hopefully years of hot water, happy days.

Pondered changing our Avtex 16” tv for the 19” one the van was originally fitted with as the Avtex is too small, I can’t read the TV guide when we sit in the captain seats.
But, the sound quality on the original set isn’t as good as the Avtex.
I also have to change the brackets back to the original.
So, took the Avtex out and it’s bracket and will refit the old one tomorrow, when I find the original mounting screws that I have put away safely, so I don’t lose them......
Mrs S gave the interior a good clean ready for a few days away next week but we can’t stay away long as our little pooch isn’t very well and likely to get worse without warning, though he is pretty good at the moment.
Oh, and I drained all the fresh water and refilled with even fresher water.....

Got my airbag sensor unit back from crashdata plugged it in and all seems to be fine great service from them posted of to them first thing Monday and got it back 12 o’clock on Wednesday £60 plus £6 for next day post. I know I could have went to fiat and had this done through warranty but hate going anywhere near main dealers all the faffing about days just waiting on then to have a look and more time and paperwork waiting on parts just glad I could do this myself and for the odds of £60 result

Not us but hopefully Fiat in Corsica is fitting the new clutch. The garage said we MAY be able to pick it up tomorrow. ?

I had a recall notice from Fiat a couple of weeks ago concerning the clips that hold the hoses on the throttle body failing. I booked an appointment at our local Fiat Professional garage last week and took it in today.
Half an hour later, all fixed.

Moved the fire extinguisher per my other post. It's now on a rear facing panel at head height on the left of the sliding door as you enter the habitation area.

Much happier with its location now.

I have been putting it off since I bought the van in November but today decided that the towbar just HAD to come off. I will never tow with the van and have no intention of adding a bike rack, so... Off it came!
Was not a bad job and the bolts and nuts all unscrewed easily. I have left the 7 pin connector still wired up and tucked away behind the bumper for now. I might keep the towbar as it might be of interest to a prospective buyer at some point in the future? But I might offer it for sale on the bay...
The whole lot came to around 32kg which is a useful addition to my available payload.

So, what did YOU do to your van today?

K ;)
I emptied the garage and underfloor locker this morning. It is amazing what has accumulated. We are a family of four, and we had 4 (yes 4) picnic tables varying in size from a small individual table to a 10 seater folding table from Aldi. I don't even remember buying it, it was still in its box, but it must have looked like a bargain at the time.

I then went to the tip, came home and repacked what was left, and I still have loads of space to spare. Hopefully my wife and kids won't see this as a challenge to fill it again before we set off on our next holiday.

Reorganised the cupboards, washed the floor, re-washed the floor after dog decided to come and look...muddy feet!

Removed the plastic trim on side of van to see how the small panel is fix as it has tin worm decide to renew all of the panel rather than repair a bit of it.Will be taking it down my mate garage to remove the panel and get any welding done before refitting it not looking forward to it but it has to be done 467154671646717467184671946720

You need to have good fire extinguishers and watch for smoke rising inside van when welding. When I welded the previous van (2004 Ducato) I stitched the new panels on 1" at a time to minimise heat build up. It took longer and was probably not as neat as a continuous weld but a lot safer. That said, there were a couple of times smoke built up from various oil and waxes in the cavities.
Good luck

K ;)
