I've had another rare day out, coffee and snacks at a local garden centre with couple of friends.
It absolutely piddled down when we were inside. ? ?

It's been warm & muggy here. Went on to visit a garden customer in Durham to see how she's faring since I haven't been able to get through and look after it properly this year. Spent longer there than intended, but had good time and great to see her and husband.

Back for tea; home made beetroot burgers and roast vegetables. Yum

The cafes in our garden centres seem to attract more people than the plants and gardening kit!

Window and wall finished, so we can start putting the kitchen together tomorrow - apologies for the language if you live near us

Neil says it's a right faff on though and your fingers get stained red from the beetroot...
He must think I'm worth it if he's bothering to make the effort, d'you think? ?

Here's a copy of the ingredients ... we just had the straight burgers with our own choice of side veggies etc., not all the stuff listed here.

Ingredients
For the beetroot burger

• 3 tbsp olive oil
• 1 red onion, finely chopped
• 2 garlic cloves, crushed
• 2 raw beetroots, peeled and grated
• 1 courgette, grated
• 2 large carrots, peeled and grated
• 100g/3½oz porridge oats
• 400g tin chickpeas, drained
• 3 tbsp tahini
• 1 large free-range egg yolk
• 4 spring onions, thinly sliced
• 3 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander
• sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

For the sweet potato salad

• extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling
• 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1cm/½in-thick rounds
• 200g/7oz halloumi, cut into 1cm/½in-thick slices
• 3 large garlic cloves, thinly sliced
• 2 red chillies, thinly sliced
• 6 handfuls mixed salad leaves
• 2 cooked beetroots, cut into 1cm/½in cubes

For the dressing

• handful fresh basil, finely chopped
• 1 garlic clove, crushed
• 1 lime, juice only
• 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

To serve

• 6 wholewheat sourdough buns, halved
• 230g/8oz hummus
• 2 avocados, sliced
• ½ red cabbage, shredded

what do i think marie.?????? ........well looking at that recipe marie..........i would say you have a rare diamond of a chap therel............yep i would say he definitely thinks your worth it..........
i shall have to google Tahini...........all these new fangled name for food stuff....way beyond me........

shall be going up north for a few days before the meet........so will get some proper home cooked food then....and maybe some beetroot burgers.........although i think thats more likely to happen on homeward stop off.........be too busy getting van etc sorted before the meet.......take care

Rather than modify/add on to the original plumbing in the bungalow, we ripped it all out and have laid a complete new carcass. Flushed it out and leak tested this afternoon - all sound . Spect the work experience lass will want a bonus

Dropped off mum back at her home in Kent after three weeks with us. Picking up grandson in morning to stay for a week. Similar conversations at times with both! Activities will be different however.....swimming climbing and walking this week, whereas last week's it has been shopping, waiting for mum to get ready, following the mobility scooter around and eating out!! Dave has now retreated to build the extension on the lodge

Spent the last few days at our daughters, supposedly to just replace the bath with a shower . If the chap who stuck the flooring to the I beams had bothered to check the tap joints under the bath we wouldn't have spent a whole day removing all the rotten floor panels .
Anyway, new floor laid, tray in place and all wastes fitted - only got to build a full height cupboard at the end of the shower tray and they can have the fun of tiling it.
Good tide tomorrow, so a few hours bass hunting first
