Flat starter battery on the van

I'm going to ring my mechanic in the morning first, then maybe rescue on Tuesday depending on what he thinks.

We've had a visitor until this afto so not updated this.

So I bought a Clamp meter and I have the two 3000a boosters (3 now) the boosters di SFA as the VB was 0v, so I bought a dumb charger off ebay and left it on charge for approx 24 hours it was putting in approx 3-4a according to it's gauge and the clamp meter, but it was barely turning over the engine certainly not enough to start it, so I left it for another 24 hours and on using the key fob it flashed but didn't open the door, wouldn't turn over at all so I just unplugged everything and left it until just now.

I got in the van and was on whatsapp and I decided to see what the van control panel said, LB was showing 13.?v which I expected BUT the VB was showing 12.7v WTAF is going on, the only possible charge is from the 85w solar, how can it possibly have put so much in in a couple of day, the engine is turning over really well but refused to start, I put one of the booster on and it really churned over but still not start.

So I think I have homestart so tomorrow I'll give them a ring.

I think it may start but a lock icon was on the dash lock symbol with a 1 in it, not looked it up yet.

That is like an immobliser type warning. while you have that error, you will get just what you have experienced ... turning over, no starting.
got another key? I think your van needs reprogramming? maybe due to ECU corruption trying to do stuff with a dead battery?
be prepared to spend a couple of hundred quid.

One tip was key on for ten minutes just trying that.

I'll try that tomorrow, then recovery if it doesn't work.

My Neighbour had this issue in her 2010 Ducato. Drove into town 5 miles to a car parts place. back into her van and wouldn't start. had the padlock symbol on the dash. tried spare key, no good. got a mobile guy out who reprogrammed the keys or something and sorted it out. Think it cost her around £120? this was last year.

No go, rang britannia rescue, bebhere in 15 minutes, I told them it wasn't urgent.

Lock symbol gone but still not starting.

Breakdown been and gone.

These are pictures of the diagnosis screen, van is booked to be recovered next Friday first thing to the garage about two miles away.

5 different error codes? interesting. be interesting to know what the actual problem is.
Did the guy try and clear the codes and then try starting to see what codes then came up? some may be due to your battery dead issue which is no longer a factor.

Now that your battery seems to have some charge in it, still think it's worth disconnecting the cable from the negative post as suggested by David earlier. Leave it a good ten minutes then try again, ECU modules are fussy things and don't like interrupted boot ups which may have happened during the previous attempts to get started.

I'm not sure but I don't think he did clear them.

Yes I did try that Allan, I left it about 30 minutes while I wrapped some of my gear away, I tried the spare key too, just ringing the breakdown company to find out if he did or not.

I had a very odd thing happen with my van some time back... all normal, then put some fuel in and I got a phone call so I parked up and turned the engine off. 20ish minutes later went to restart and nothing. Limited lights on dash but soon as I tried to start, all lights off and nothing.
no warning at all. check all kind of things and seemed ok except not working. in the end, I disconnected the ground from the vehicle battery, reconnected it and all was fine. No idea what happened, why it happened and never happened again.
Bit worrying, mind and I drove home with the battery cover off so I could easily access the earth lead again in case same thing occured!

I don't think you are one to get ripped of, Kev, but make sure they just don't throw parts at it willy-nilly. e.g. manual says P0200 = Requires New Fuel injection ECU (for example), so they just fit a new ECU because that is what it says.
