" tip of the day "

try not to drive with a full tank of water if you can help it as we never do BUT on our last trip in France just before leaving a site i forgot to empty the tank full of fresh water ( i just leave a small amount in ) so driving on the m/way i noticed my mpg had dropped from 32 mpg to 24mpg then remembered the water pull in an sos layby dropped the water in to the rain ditch & back up to 32mpg . cheyenne
tommy rot, you must have had the handbreak on. or have been accelerating fiercely or going up a never ending hill or into a very strong headwind or in too low a gear. My MacLouis Tandy gets 30 to the gallon with a full water tank and 75 litres of spare in bottles, you never know where you will find more. The biggest effect on fuel consumption overall is the wind direction

Do try to be nice, please.

thank you for those kind words .cheyenne
You must admit that your drop in MPG is not commensurate with an extra 100kg of water weight, so something else must be going on.

cant explain it myself we was worried :unsure:we had the problem ducato's have with fuel filters leaking or a leak somewhere & we had just filled up at a french supermarket thought it could be shyt fuel but no thats all i did drop the water in a sos layby flat french m/way no head wind . started driving at 17 got my class 1 at 23 had 40 cars had 7 m/h's so dont try to lecture me on driving condition i probably forgot more than some people know & dont forget you can go back to see what some people have replied to threads on here & TALK ABOUT GARBAGE i had a right good laugh :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:giving out advice that they no "JACK SHYT ABOUT ":unsure:happy days are here again .cheyenne

Yet you still think that dropping 100kgs made so much difference to your MPG, not possible.

I used to drive a XLWB Sprinter for a living which is comparable to a MoHo, Leeds to Dover once a week, fuel down and back was virtually the same overall, I know for certain as I had to buy the fuel maybe a gallon difference in fuel, but over a ton in weight less coming back.

Sorry for my brusqueness but that thought was so ridiculous. I always head off with all tanks full up and return with most empty. Consumption better going up country. Difference? wind direction. SW prevailing behind on way up and against coming down.

ok (y)now we are all friend's again there are somethings in life we cant explain  . our last m/h was a tag new in (2008 3L lump ) doing only 19mpg & 160 bhp so had her remapped at 2000 miles still did 19mpg BUT went 192bhp like shyt off a shovel ( burnt the clutch out at 10.000 miles my fault thought a was sterling moss :ROFLMAO:) but boy could she go up that steep hill coming from dover docks pulling 6000KG she was shyt hot . at 20.000 miles she ended up at 28 mpg BUT sadly she got damp on a hab check so had to go hence the swift any way looking forward to the 29th December 😎😎 .cheyenne
